I just finished reading your article. Really well done. I learned a lot about communities and about Mastadon itself. (The "Federation" thing was a little bit of a mystery to me.)

Here's something I don't understand about people: if there's a conversation going on about discrimination in a group, then why does anyone outside of that group feel compelled to step in?

How about just STFU and read what other people experience and take it as just that. They have an experience that might be different than yours.

It would be like a group of people discussing how much they disliked a movie and someone else trying to convince them that they're wrong and should really like it.

I actually get that on RunPee sometimes when people disagree with my review. It's my review dude. Disagree, but don't tell me that I'm wrong.

Anyway, I'll stop ranting. Thanks for getting my blood pressure up this morning. 🙂

@kswilcox Good call. Utah may become virtually abandoned.

I live outside Asheville, NC. I didn't choose A'ville for climate change reasons but turns out it was a wise choice. Moderate temperatures, plentiful water, and inexpensive land. I'm really happy I ended up here. I hope you find the same in OR. The PacNW is absolutely amazing.

@freemo That's quite a read. Thanks for taking the time to dump the details. I knew nothing of this when I recently joined QOTO but I'm glad I accidentally made the choice. I respect what you're trying to do and the effort you have made to keep this a safe place for a variety of communities.
