@freeschool @whateveryouart it has surprisingly good traction in the snow, but i should try some donuts next time there’s a good snowfall!

love that AI can take over all these tasks for me! annoying tasks like creating illustrations, making music, writing code, poetry and blog articles! really frees me up for the important stuff, like gruelling, repetitive paperwork

GA4 has been “thresholding” the marketing website analytics of a client of mine for nearly a year, making accurate traffic reporting basically impossible despite my best efforts.

well, they’ve finally removed it, unhamstringing our account! embarrassing how happy this made me.

"wcdonalds" is really what they're calling this new sauce? sounds like an asian knock-off food place that sells phone cases on the side

this week we’re selling a special one-time re-run of band tees and hoodies! doing it as a fundraiser in honour of my friend and bandmate michael who died in december after a long battle with cancer. all proceeds go to his wife and 9-yr-old daughter.

let my ivory subscription lapse to see if i could get used to using ice cubes all the time. made ice cubes feel quite a bit better by tweaking settings, but something just feels right about ivory that i miss! not sure it feels $20 good though. trying to pinpoint what the things are in ice cubes that make its UX inferior, but it does. the icon set and typographical things are part of it, i think.

anyone else get what i’m talking about?

what’re y’all using for mastodon clients these days?

milestone reached: son rans busted through his first snare head (whiplash-style). luckily we live around the corner from a music shop, so we were able to walk over and grab another (more minimalist?) remo powerstroke between snow squalls

as for the power supply, i ordered the weird 4 pin plug for it off mouser and a bench power supply capable of providing the 28v needed. if those successfully power up the unit, i can look into a more permanent arrangement. fingers crossed!

hoping maybe the snapped display base can be repaired with epoxy? if that’s not strong enough i guess someone in california still sells these bases for ~$200 (woof)

going to see if i can get my dad’s old G4 cube + CRT studio display working. has a burned out power supply (he thinks) and one of the monitor’s stand supports is snapped.

@freemo oh for sure — i’m not discontented at all. i just have an inkling of how much effort can be involved in this stuff and so wanted to express my appreciation 🙂

@freemo thanks for the work on this. looking forward to seeing what’s on its way!

eb even took the time to alphabetically sort the word library for this thing. having teens is great!

@mike @levisan one cool thing about ice cubes is that you can subscribe to other local timelines besides just your own. seemed like they brought in quote-posts earlier than others too — development is very active. UI doesn’t feel quite as polished as ivory though, but it’s getting better

Really, really bad decision from Google in an era of increasingly sophisticated disinformation, AI-generated substitutions for legit content, and attacks on the Internet Archive. Another choice that destabilizes the information ecosystem. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/0

i’m at the end of knife of dreams if anyone’s curious. that’s the one where mat fulfills prophecy by marrying a girl he barely knows
