I don't know why beavers left it in peace after putting in so much work. Beaver teeth marks are about two years old. The tree fell down in the last few days, probably during a storm.

A boomer delivered some firewood to our neighbour today. She's lucky it wasn't a nuke (though a nuke powered heater could keep her warm till the end of her life).
The good thing is that our power line survived. We're at the very end of a long stretch of wires , so we're the last to get repaired.
Today we had many short power breaks, none of them longer than 10 minutes, but they made work hell. Sorry if I didn't reply to your message. Living on the edge, I don't have a UPS, the battery in my laptop is dead, and I'm too lazy to drag the generator out of its lair. Those breaks meant that the power company was still cleaning up after a 12 hour outage a few days ago, caused by storms. Back then we had a very romantic evening, with cooking by candlelight.

At last. The storm is coming our way. We might lose our roof, but at least it will be a bit cooler.
