Amazing how many brilliant scientists will look at an LLM "passing" a standardized test and think, "wow, this computer is very smart" and not "standardized tests are very bad at measuring intelligence"

I found an ancient Toshiba NB500-113 and managed to revive it, except for one thing – the touchpad switch on the keyboard doesn't work and it needs an external mouse. After searching the web it appears there's a Windows utility that might fix it, but that's not an option for me. Does anyone know any workarounds? It would be a shame to put it in trash. #repair #reuse

Including images of this statue in art classes is now banned in one school district in Florida because a parent complained that the statue is pornographic.I thought conservatives insisted that our history (especially statues) shouldn't be forgotten.

Ever since playing with ChatGPT, I've become sensitized to the way false rationality sounds ... there's a particular vibe to what is basically coherent nonsense. And now I've started to notice when people do it too. I get this crawly ChatGPT feeling when somebody is obviously making up an answer in an authoritative way about something they know nothing about. #AI #chatgpt #psychology
