Some people can be real freaks about trans people.

Like, seriously, if you don't want to acknowledge someone's transition because you're a stunted, regressive troglodyte who refuses to grow and learn like a human being, just leave them the fuck alone.

But some folks - and I'm speaking about legacy bio family here very specifically - are completely abnormal in how they respond to their trans relatives.

It's kind of impressive just how passive-aggressive they are - I came out to them a couple years ago, and set one very reasonable boundary, to use my proper name and pronouns or not contact me - so ever since, on various dates which are significant to them, I keep finding packages showing up with "The [deprecated legacy name] Family" or "Merry Christmas" as the address containing small kitchen appliances or home decor.

My nesting partner's been sending that shit back when they find it, but apparently it's -still going on- literally -years- later.

At some point you really gotta wonder what those weird freaks are getting out of it. Is this somehow a fetish?

Multilingual types, what's your favourite word in any of the languages you know that's difficult to translate into English?

Mine is the Polish word "kombinowanie", which is a particularly Polish way of "getting things sorted" in a way which is not necessarily entirely legal. I think it appeared during the communist period when a lot of improvising was required to get hold of goods etc. It might involve small scale bribery, for example.

Dobrzy ludzie! Proszę o poradę w sprawie Mastodona/Fediwersum. 💡

Właśnie założyliśmy (w realu) grupę odbiorców żywności ekologicznej i potrzebujemy czegoś, co zastąpiłoby grupy Facebooka. (Na spotkaniu wszyscy mówili "załóżmy grupę!" - ale dla mnie Facebook nie wchodzi w grę). Dlatego chcę założyć instancję Mastodona tylko dla członków naszej grupy (bo chodzi o to, żeby można było móc rozmawiać tylko w swoim gronie). Może przy okazji ludzie poznają #Fediwersum i zachęcą się do korzystania z niego. Zamierzam wykupić jakiś hosting Mastodona. W naszej instancji będą tylko osoby, które znają się osobiście i mają do siebie nawzajem kontakty (kilkanaście osób). Mamy do siebie wzajemnie zaufanie.

Moje pytania:
1. Czy da się założyć instancję, w której wpisy (i dyskusje) są dostępne tylko i wyłącznie dla osób zarejestrowanych na danej instancji?

2. Czy dałoby się tak zrobić, żeby członkowie instancji mogli wchodzić w normalne interakcje z członkami innych instancji (tj. obserwować ich, rozmawiać, boostować, gwiazdkować itd.).

3. Jak się ma "defederacja" i "relays" do dwóch powyższych punktów? I czy są takie hostingi Mastodona, które zapewnia taką defederację i brak relays? Gdzie można poczytać, żeby się w takich sprawach trochę poduczyć? (języki: PL/EN/DE)

4. Jakieś inne pomysły, sugestie dla osoby nietechnicznej?

Chcę wykupić hosting Mastodona a nie zakładać swój serwer, bo nie mam umiejętności ani czasu, żeby dbać o bezpieczeństwo serwera, backupy, aktualizacje itp.
