Somebody on our neighbourhood whatsapp group just shared security camera footage of two guys derailing their gate from it's motor so they could get into the property to steal a motorcycle.

And what nobody seems to have noticed in the replies is that these two were standing under a bright spotlight, perfectly illuminated, casting long shadows across the street.

Bright lights do not deter criminals. They only make victims of crime feel a little better by addressing our primal fear of the dark.
