Went around the house investigating hot spots with a FLIR thermal camera attachment on my phone. Weird shapes everywhere.

Obligatory cat picture.

Can you help support the National Museum of Computing?

They're raising money to fix the roof of one of their historic buildings, that houses some of their collection.

The museum is the home of such important historic computers as Colossus, the Enigma Bombe, and the Witch, plus a load of others.

Plus, they do a lot for the local community, including hosting and supporting lots of STEM groups and events.

Please donate if you can: crowdfunder.co.uk/p/protect-th

Today is the Day of Remembrance for the Japanese American community. 81 years ago today, when I was just a boy of four, FDR signed Executive Order 9066, setting in motion the evacuation of people of Japanese descent from the West Coast and our long years of internment inside ten barbed wire prison camps.

We must never let such a thing happen again in America, and and we must strive everywhere to prevent the forced relocation and mass incarceration of innocent people. #NeverForget #NeverAgain

The dead pine tree makes for a nice place to hang out ;-)

“On October 24 1975, the woman of Iceland went on strike for equal rights.

90% of women walked off their jobs and out of their homes, shutting down the country.
The men could barely cope.

The next year parliament passed a law guaranteeing equal pay. Five years later, Iceland, elected the worlds, first woman, president.

Now, Iceland has the highest gender equality in the world .

I have been revisiting the junk foods of my youth, and my impression is that the Little Debbie Oatmeal Crème Pie is definitely smaller (or is it just that I am bigger?) and a little more cloying in its sweetness. I also seem to remember the 90s version being darker in color as well. Is there a site where people are tracking these important cultural updates?

My brother in JFC...automated AI medical advice (via systems that are almost certainly collecting/creating invasive health surveillance data on behalf of insurers/employers) is still not helpful (even if it were accurate, which it's not) to people who can't afford to follow it

Swan meadow.

That's a meadow, not a lake, but they don't care how we name things. It looks like a lake, it barks like a lake.

I love that "sabotage" comes from when discontented peasants pitched their sabots (wooden shoes) into factory looms to protest against the appalling working conditions in the early Industrial Revolution.
It's time for some more clog-tossing.

@XRBoston @MassGovernor A fun aside: years ago, when climate change denial felt like our biggest hurdle, one of the people in this photo gifted me this patch which I found too precious to iron on to anything so I just kept it 💚💚💚

Reuse is a good thing as long as it's done properly. I wouldn't mind getting a reused implant (if I ever needed one), but I'd rather not get something that's not FOSS. edition.cnn.com/2023/02/19/eur

Right now, the entire country of Denmark is using 4.245MW of electricity.

Windmills are producing: 3.442 MW
Solar is producing: 746 MW

So if we do the math, wind + solar = 98.7% of our energy use right now is 100% renewable

Just a reminder that not only can we fix climate change, we are fixing it.
