Adding @lambdaisland's awesome deep-diff2 to my data-oriented static site generator called Nuzzle so the user can visualize the data transformation pipeline of their website config :3

I can't find documentation anywhere on how to get a per -project PostGres (using the -D data directory option) to listen on the usual port. The only thing I read out there uses Unix sockets, which aren't good for me. I can't find docs anywhere!

You don't need to use other people's servers on Mastodon or the Fediverse. Anyone can set up their own server, even non-technical people. It's much easier than you think, and much cheaper too.

I run a website helping non-technical people create their own servers at growyourown.services and you can follow its account at @homegrown

There are many Fediverse server types you can set up without tech knowledge:

growyourown.services/grow-your

There's also an in-depth tutorial about making your own Mastodon server without tech knowledge, and most of it applies to any kind of Fediverse server:

I just learned about HTMX.org, and it seems really interesting. @obryant666 I hear that Biff is using it now?

Thanks to a TV-screen monitor in one of my offices, I can actually recognize this UTF character

There is this old idea of "let's make code more like natural language" [ie English]. I'm confronted with one minor language that was based on that ideal, and I laugh. I studied linguistics and rhetoric; "code like natural language" doesn't even mean anything, and there is no universe in which it would be an actual good idea. I suspect that these idealists are mostly American, as here we have a special sort of linguistic ignorance.

I wasn’t aware of this syntax. I think I prefer it over what I’ve used -

I can't seem to find the code for this anywhere, but FOSS-certified is a good thing. Now to find out if my organization's Duo auth implementation is compatible.

I must admit, the way Spotify knows which track and where in the track you are on which device, even between my web browser, chromecast, and my phone app, is very impressive. What tech underlies that success?

This article makes some great points. In my case, using GardenCSS and hotloading for my custom stuff, and Bulma for my general stuff that I want ensured against devices and edge-cases, is just beautiful. The point is, though it can cause pain, the C in CSS is good. javascript.plainenglish.io/tai

@veer66 That makes sense. But they are incompatible, right? If I want to combine teaching and project teams, I can't combine those two approaches to PHP, can I?

It's not that I care whether it's called "master" or "main". I just hate having my branch names dictated by some faceless entities in the name of non-technical issues of which I want no part. Especially with the wasted retcon.

WordPress is my alma mater and, so far, my only true solution for PHP. Is WordPress truly an alternative (incompatible) with Laravel?

Wow. Libhunt looks like a pretty cool service, even scraping reddit for mentions of the tech in consideration! libhunt.com/compare-corfu-vs-c

My headphones bluetooth to my phone great, always have. Recently I got Bluetooth working excellently on my PC , but there are tradeoffs. Anyone know an easy way to go back and forth, or connect the same headset to both?

Cory Doctorow, Little Brother. It comes highly recommended, particularly regarding the Nothing to Hide fallacy. gutenberg.org/ebooks/30142
