Was thinking the #TwitterMigration reminds me of the OPPOSITE of the GooglePlus launch.
Then you had a very robust, polished Silo of a Facebook Clone site. Pretty full featured and shipped like Googlers ship all their products...but a Ghost Town.
Here you get something no one owns, not even one platform like #Mastadon owns. And it is already well beyond in some ways what Twitter offers, in other ways different and rougher...but so ALIVE with people, inventing new ways to extend and use.
Yesterday instead of writing a script in bash I gave Babashka (a Clojure interpreter) a try. I would say I’m more proficient with Bash than with Clojure at this point, but I feel the resulting code is actually better with Babashka: having access to a REPL is really a game changer for writing cleaner and more modular code. A very positive experience overall, thank you @borkdude!

Huh. Wishful thinking, but I wonder if it’s actually getting to him. This isn’t his only whiny shitpost about #Mastodon.
This one is for all the new people on #Mastodon: did you know that the #fediverse has more than just a microblogging replacement? And that they can all interoperate with your Mastodon account?
Check them out!

A great #clojure discussion of #XTDB and others vs standard SQL. https://teddit.net/r/Clojure/comments/yj1oah/open_source_datomic/
Firefox, help needed
Sometimes websites open small pop-up windows that do not load all the menus, address bars etc. e.g. during paypal payment.
That is fine in most cases, but I need access to some plugin symbols such as the password manager and ad blockers.
How can I tell Firefox to always show me these even if the callig websites tries to not have them show up?
If you can't help, please boost :)
Qoto has this green "website verified" indicator that I don't see an other instances of Mastodon. Why do we have it but others don't? #noxp
I have had several problems lately where I never come to understand a "why?" but have a good work-around.
In #clojure reagent (react), why was stuff having bizarre browser focus errors if I PASSED a value from my front-end DB, but fine if I gave it the info to retrieve that value itself?

Shout out to Ning Sun sunng for https://github.com/sunng87/ring-jetty9-adapter/ great #clojure Ring adapter for Jetty 11 w/WebSockets (despite the 9 in the name). Very responsive OSS maintainer! #moa
A serious note on #FollowFriday, heavily inspired by @researchfairy toots today, is that your list of X Type of Person can also be Y person's hitlist for harassment campaigns. Much better to discover people more organically or through themselves and their own hashtags unless the person you're intending to Follow Friday has given their consent to be on an additional-exposure list. 1/2
So happy to see this. I was just about to post how much I enjoy RSS whenever possible, and here we are! https://rsapkf.org/weblog/q2z
Don't confuse Web3 (invented by Ethereum?) with Web3.0. About freedom of data access and sharing, not blockchain.
