I'd rather have 43 escaped lab monkeys appointed to the FDA than RFK Jr because at least they have some drug research experience.

@realTuckFrumper

It seems the the US policy towards Cuba, is not that much different to the Netenyahu policy towards Gaza, that may explain why the US supports rather than condemns what is going on, as to condemn would look very hypocritical indeed

“We now find plastics in the most remote regions of the planet and in the most intimate, within human bodies."

"Plastics are made out of the combination of thousands of chemicals. Many of them, such as endocrine disruptors and forever chemicals, pose toxicity and harm to ecosystems and human health. We should see plastics as the combination of these chemicals with which we interact on a daily basis.”

So this could say more about the US (Not everyone) where a convicted felon, racist, misogamyst can with the popular vote. He MUST be doing something right, even if people don't like or agree with him or his policies.

There has been a slow exodus for some time, due to rising levels of toxicity, it would make sense that given the US election that there would be a peek in Migration.

Would be interesting perhaps to get an insight in to what is happening.

@olives

Just tagging you as you commented about NSPCC research, Just found this article (not by them) but interesting conclusions with regard to social media and mental health, I need to read this more fully.

New study challenges social media's mental health impact

sciencedaily.com/releases/2024

I think this is perhaps a good point "so what this research could be flagging is how long we spend on social media might matter less for mental health, as opposed to how we're using it and engaging with it."

@olives

I was just quoting the article, i actually agree with you on the NSPCC it seems they have caused more damage than they wanted to prevent with their views

@Rhodium103

Perhaps "internet or connected services" would be better,

@bonifartius

Good point there, this about more than just social media, perhaps we can lobby governments to reflect this in these laws

@zleap i don't think the state has any say in this but i wouldn't let my kids on any social media. not big tech, not fedi. i wouldn't let my kids use the net unsupervised. this isn't the 90s net or even 2000s net anymore, this is a different beast. maybe plain text only is ok.

we don't have algorithms but this place is chock full of true psychos and you can't unsee things.
