I am working on helping set up a decentralized knowledge sharing event thingy. it will be mostly video stream based workshops on a variety of topics centering on building our own future/diy/solarpunk/decentralization/federation stuff but we will also try to do some in person workshops as well, just registered a really good domain for it while having our second meeting. will post about it more as more is uncovered. I hope to invite a bunch of people from the fediverse to give talks and workshops!

LibreOffice Development
Let's bring new and younger contributors into the LibreOffice community! In January, we announced the "New Generation" project – and to start, we've worked on a flyer that can be distributed in schools and universities.

Taking a moment to pause and go through a Haskell course. Learning by doing is great, but I feel like it's also necessary to read and learn from others in this kind of format to make sure you're not missing anything. There's always a lot you can learn from others.

Well, I am not to convince anyone. But let's also see that everybody including the decision makers at Oxford are adults. Let's not take away agency from them. Whether on advice of Bill Gates or somebody else, the decision they took is theirs and they are responsible for it, not Bill Gates.

The Framework Laptop: Upgradeable, repairable, and 100% yours

It’s time for long-lasting products that respect your right to repair and upgrade.
The single best way to reduce the environmental impact of electronics is to make them last longer. You can repair and upgrade the Framework Laptop to make it work great for as long as you need it to. On top of that, it uses a 50% post consumer recycled (PCR) aluminium housing, 30% PCR plastic, and fully recyclable materials for packaging.
Built-in hardware privacy switches give you complete control over access to the camera and microphones. Their embedded controller firmware is fully open source, and they claim not to preload any extra software.
It is expected to ship by the Summer of 2021 (Northern Hemisphere?).
