TROM-cast 67: Moderating the Fediverse

In this episode we will discuss about moderating the fediverse. Is it different from the online moderation in general? Is it even effective? What about the technicality of it?

Our guests are Hypolite Petovan and Michael Vogel, some of the lead developers of Friendica and instance admins themselves.

You can see the live here with a live chat www.tromsite.com/live/ or here directly (and no live chat) videos.trom.tf/w/c9643e7b-c223…

We may open up the live video-call to anyone else interested in the discussion. #tromlive

A new #blog post appears!

We're beginning a new series, "Let's write a compiler." In part 1, we'll introduce what a compiler is, select a language for our compiler, and do some high-level (no code) planning.

At the end of the series, you will have written a complete compiler from scratch! It won't be the world's fanciest compiler, but it will be correct. And it will be fast! Good for beginners.

CD testing is nearing completion! The test matrix is quite extensive and most tests require real hardware so this is the most time-consuming part of the release process #ReleasingDebianBullseye

peertube is nice because it is specific to videos, it is federated, the bandwidth is shared througha torrent-like interface, and supports things like live streaming.

If you plan to post videos the peer tube instance is the way to go.

Open access, open review, peer review, and replication are all necessary elements to detect fallacies (whether intentional as fraud or not). Any of them, when applies in a healthy environment, will reduce fallacies, but they arent perfect.

CD testing is a great way to contribute to the release and get stuck into Debian. liz in Brisbane, AU has just filed her first ever bug report testing a live image! wiki.debian.org/Teams/DebianCd #ReleasingDebianBullseye

Releasing Debian 11 doesn't mean Debian 10 "buster" is abandoned. Debian supports the previous version for at least twelve months following a new release, before it moves to the LTS and eLTS teams for further maintenance #ReleasingDebianBullseye
