@benjancewicz wow, a legit panopticon. I knew they actually built some, but never seen one
@lucifargundam perhaps you're assuming things about the nature of body or mind that I don't assume, or you're relying on some theory with which I'm not familiar.
@lucifargundam I understand your scenario, I guess, but I don't see your point
@lucifargundam how do you mean?
@lucifargundam yes! definitely one of my favorites too. just my kind of off-kilter humor
another one i liked was the Swarm episode. It has some real Octavia Butler vibes, I think what with the human adapting to a different ecosystem and the whole "there's something fundamentally maladaptive about how humans traditionally have operated"
there's always a bit of dissatisfaction with anthologies though where I want to spend more time with the little worlds each story creates. not all of them, of course: some really are structured so that the end is a good stopping point.

so, they can't hear the difference. it's just in your mind?
"Don't say I never gave you anything"/"Don't say I never did anything for you" are among the phases I most hate to hear from someone. it pretty much always means the person saying it *knows* what they've given or what they've done is insufficient but they still want to demand that you protect their image. it's just so weak
@readsteven the ending to Evangelion 2.0 comes to mind (before the post-credits sequence)
@penguin42
if by "great" you mean upsetting, then, yeah, agreed
