If not for COVID, the vast majority of those who died would not have died.

COVID attaches to ACE-2 receptors in the lungs. Certain diseases increase or are caused by higher than average receptor density. However, it's not the receptors that cause death, but the virus that attaches to it.

I disagree. Every additional security improvement put in place increased the capital required to compromise the system. If it becomes prohibitively expensive for an attacker to sufficiently compromise the system, it drastically reduces the chance of compromise.
Security doesn't need to be perfect to be usually good enough.

Would you like some help with this issue?

Honestly, what's he supposed to say? "Now now Mr. Un, please don't hit on women during our negotiations!"

If I have a book for 8, should i buy a book for java 9 ? Is there a big difference between the two?

@sim
The job filters for people who don't empathize with the animals. If someone cared about the animals, they wouldn't work there long.
Conversely, the ones likely to stay the longest are the ones who enjoy the environment, eg psychopaths with no empathy that like to(and have the freedom to) inflict pain.

@teslanaut
Yeah it's not uncommon among the religious (at least in my area, rural midwest). That's probably the demographic he's targeting with such choice of language.

Racism's bad no matter who it's directed towards. It's discriminating solely due to an unmutable characteristic, which is immoral in my opinion.

@randomthoughts@mstdn.social
That's a good point. Often we don't realize all potential outcomes.
Trouble is that some recognition of potential outcomes needs to be part of the definition in my opinion, because a drunk or drugged person cannot consent.
Maybe a belief in the potential outcomes of an action need to be considered.. though someone of lower cognitive abilities may believe that they know the actions yet not be able to fully consent.
This is a good, thought-provoking post, lol

@randomthoughts@mstdn.social
I'd say that this threshold is too low, or maybe that it should be fleshed out a little bit. I can accept that a neighbor exists without consenting to them putting limbs in my lawn(damn you Bill).
I think it's almost good though. I'd say:
- all participants need to recognize and accept the potential and likely outcomes of an action about to be taken

The original purpose was to help always maintain lines of communication between superpowers, find common ground, and help in dispute resolution. In this regard, it has served its purpose fantastically.

@freemo
Yeah it's gravity that I'm talking about. I didn't know there were other discrepancies. Sounds like I'm not really educated on the matter enough to add much, so I'll stop pestering :)

@pj@bitcoinhackers.org
Makes sense given things are getting violent.

@freemo
I've always heard that there is a disconnect between macro and micro physics. Could this quantum force that causes everything to attract (with the strength of that attraction varying considerably based on the distance between two particles) explain this discrepancy? Do you know if it is accounted for in current models?

@freemo
A bit of an aside, but is there a limit to the wavelength that can be generated spontaneously in quantum foam?

If no, then that would mean that the Casmir Effect would take place at any distance.
