@freemo @MrsDi @EubieDrew I, also, spent more time than was probably healthy searching for the right place to land here on Mastodon. If that's the price, then that's the price. Meet The Dude, commonly called Dudely by the kids.

Hello world! We are Open Ephys. We make #opensource hardware and software for #neuroscience research. We are a worker cooperative (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worker_c). We want to make scientific tools available to anybody who might want to use them.

🚨 BIG DATA RELEASE 🚨 We are beyond excited to announce the release of our Brain Wide Map of neural activity during decision making! It consists of 547 Neuropixel recordings of 32784 neurons across 194 regions of the mouse brain 🐭🧠

All these recordings were performed in a distributed fashion in 12 different labs, spanning Europe and the US 🌎 Rigorous standardization of methods and materials allowed us to pool the data from these labs together into a single gigantic dataset 🐙

Mice are performing our standardized perceptual decision-making task in which they have to position a stimulus in the center of a screen to receive reward. The dataset contains the stimuli and decisions, but also videos from three angles and DeepLabCut pose information. We're even releasing all the raw ephys data!

We know, it's a lot. At your own pace you can read all the details about the experimental setup, the task, processing of the data, and much more in the technical paper which accompanies this data release: figshare.com/articles/preprint

To explore the data at your leisure, visit our visualization website where you can scroll through different recording sessions, look at neural activity during example trials, and see trial-based activity of single neurons: viz.internationalbrainlab.org

Do you have itchy fingers to run your models on this humongous dataset? We totally get it! Here you can find how to download the data using our API so you can fire up those computing clusters: int-brain-lab.github.io/iblenv

This was a collective effort of our stellar team, who all put in so much work to make this monumental achievement possible. Our collaboration consists of 22 PIs, 37 researchers, and 11 staff members who all worked tirelessly to bring these data to you, the community 👏🍾

#introduction. I am a plant developmental geneticist. The lab addresses a fundamental biological question: how does morphogenesis translate genotype into form? To this end we study signaling at the plasma membrane - cell wall interface and we investigate how mechanical forces influence tissue shape using 3D digital ovules.

I haven't seen the sun for 9 days, except for my flight home to #Minneapolis #StPaul when we were above the clouds. Maybe I took a wrong flight and am now in #Seattle or #Portland?

I'm senior researcher at (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and (Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris).

I'm executive editor at TEKTONIKA twitter.com/WeAreTektonika (a DOA journal not yet on Mastodon), and advocate of , free

Just moving from Twitter to Mastodon, and learning how to use it. Will keep the two accounts alive, at least for some time…

With this new twitter exodus surge developing looks like ill be at 30k followers by the end of the day. Who wants to celebrate with a beer?

The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together before we get much older

Twitter wasteland
It's only twitter wasteland
Twitter wasteland, oh, yeah
Twitter wasteland
They're all tweeted!

A reminder for anyone new to mastodon who might not be happy with some of the racist and bad actors out there on other servers... Just import the fediblock list to your personal blocks and you will be safe from the vast majority of bad actors.

I took all the domains from https://fediblock.neocities.org/ block list and put it in a csv file that can be imported so you can block all hateful ...

Growing up in suburbs, we were forced to believe the ability to drive was our biggest freedom in life. I’m glad I later realized that the truest freedom is $0 in car payments, $0 in car insurance, $0 in gas, $0 in parking and the wind through my helmet holes.

#Introduction I’m a professor of computational biology at UC Berkeley, leading a group that develops machine learning algorithms and web apps for genomics, molecular evolution, and synthetic biology. I’m also chair of the Berkeley/UCSF PhD program in Bioengineering. So I post about all that; but also about other random interests like experimental computer games, music production, silly jokes, linguistic nerdery, AI, politics, retro 8-bit coding, dadding, therapy, self-awareness, and so on.

Intro post: I'm a professor of #Biology at the #UniversityOfWashington. My training is in #EvolutionaryBiology, #BehavioralEcology, #PopulationGenetics, and #Epidemiology. I did lots of work in #Bibliometrics and #NetworkTheory. I teach #DataLiteracy. These days I spend a lot of time thinking about the spread of #Misinformation, the #ScienceOfScience, and #PhilosophyOfScience. I do a lot of #BirdPhotography and love #ravens, #crows, and all #corvids.

For your trouble, here's a perfect crow.

Hello science folks! #introduction

I am the Director of the Genomics Research Incubator (GRI), which is a collaborative research lab at Penn State (PSU) that serves to aid and enhance research by providing expert advice, guidance, technical training, and direct access to #genomics and epigenomics assays utilizing high throughput DNA #sequencing.

My personal research interests are focused on genomics and gene regulation in #hematopoiesis using mouse as a model system.

My #introduction!

I am a professor at Arizona State University. I have a lab, and we study the #evolution, structure, and function of #microbes that form beneficial long-term infections in eukaryotic cells. Mostly this means #bacteria that infect sap-feeding #insects, but we also run into #fungi every once in a while. We use #cellbiology, #genomics, and #biochemistry in our work.

I loved learning about new science on the bird app but hated the negativity. I hope this can be different.
