We know you’re busy doing great things.
We don’t ever wanna be a burden on you. We really hope we don’t make you feel obliged to reply to all the peasant crap we post.
As it is its a privilege to get to talk to the many brilliant people I have met here that I could otherwise never have encountered.
But we shouldn’t push it. People have lives.
Goodluck with your venture and we hope it takes off with an unmatched escape velocity.

Hey thanks.
Never really knew much about Gab, except for their highly memeable mascot. I just use safari with adblock. Never explored brave either. Thankyou for this. I really like the concept of Dissenter.

If one sticks a massive boulder in a stream of running water, they would be foolish to assume that this would stop the downstream flow.
Entropic / Chaotic systems like human society are always going to try and reach towards their natural state. Any attempts to stop this will at max cause a delay, but you can never stop the motion, never.
The internet is part of human evolution. By it’s very nature its an extension of collective thought.
Tribes survived because of collective thought, they communicated ideas through songs, dances, tribal art, sculptures.
This is how humams attained some level of synchronicity and this augmented the collective strength of tribes.
Thus improving their chances of survival and producing viable progeny.

If tech companies try and control narratives it is only a matter of time that the blocked stream would start overflowing, flood the surrounding area and then either find a new path to flow downstream or somehow reach the old path and continue
Dissent is inevitable.
This very dissent could actually lead to a permannet change in the way the internet works.
The internet has a way of things. It’s nature is quite divine. It is not for man to excercise jurisdiction over it.
All attempts at hitting a wall with your forehead will only lead to concusions and bruises.
The internet is a force beyond the control of a few tech companies.
Where will it take us, we don’t know. But the engine’s running, we are on top gear, the windows are down and the wind is cool.
Let’s just enjoy the view.

It was 99 not 98
Although the site doesn't exist but I found an article that was published during the height of the Boom.
https://www.outlookindia.com/magazine/story/cybercroresindianet/208566
My first exposure to a computer was in a cybercafe in 98
The first site i visited was mykindasite.com
it was a site full of games and fun stuff you could to.
The rate at that time was 10rs/hour
---------------------
In India,
Computers didn't reach people's houses till the early 2000s
And for most, the centralised web is their first experience in computing.
-----------------
I still remember using the dial up connection, I would sing the dial up tone!!!
And my parents yelling at me for always being online and keeping the phone engaged !!
Good ole days of 52kbps internet!!

Bot issue.
There are two scripts I have found so far.
1️⃣ One that uses the Mastodon.py library, but you need the 'Unique Mastodon app key' to access the bot, and hence we can flag a bot when we see one.
2️⃣ There is a simple command line script that only takes in your username password and source twitter feed. No idea if this bot goes unnoticed.
Oh my !! I'm beginning to think this is an issue that is arrising out of the decentralised operating-mechanism of mastodon.
I think a UI mod could take care of this issue for the client.
I have a desire to break my head solving this issue.(no matter how unqualified I am) I sense a growing itch approaching.
Three flags and the system automatically silences the account or if it is on your own instance puts a temp block.
Moderator reviews the situation and decides appropriate action.
(There is a possibility that this could lead to flag-abuse but then we would know the offenders.)
This could limit the destructive radius of the offender.
------------
Frankly I don't see any issue with banning them.
------------
I'm thinking about this bot issue. That's an unresolved problem, degrading the experience and affecting the signal to noise ratio.
How can you not get stoned and spend your day hanging out of these contraptions as it whizzes you around the city.
Well um...
Nuclear option would be to just include a switch to turn off all bots from showing app on your feed.
But that still doesn't solve the issue of the load on the server.
I'm thinking of an interaction based rating system.
If people are interacting with a bot, we let it stay.
But after one month of low interaction, we make the bot pay in order to continue.
I meant the street cars.
We call them trams here.
Cable cars are just called Cable cars, (or death traps, if the gov runs them)
Never realised the kind of problems fediverse faces.
Ip's are scrambled too??
Can't we regulate bot behaviour?
Like a posting rate (posts/hour).
Or considering the timeline is anyway Chrono, just outright charge them!! -- (I know I know this statement is blasphemy)
Really? They behave so well with me.
At max they called me a bhakt.
Maybe my dp has them confused.
"Whose side is he on???"
I've heard.
But I still wanna visit.
I wanna ride the tram all day looooooooong!!!!
wheee!!
And go to china town!!
Of course I have.
Amazing concept.......for the west. Not for India though.
Not yet.
I heard there are poor people permanently camping out on streets.
Too much capitalism way too fast.
It's like literally displacing entire neighbourhoods out.
BREAK UP BIG TECH !!
