There’s an important lesson here: don’t engage in dumb conduct when you are trying to do a critically important job. It doesn’t matter whether Willis’s romantic relationship actually prejudiced her prosecutorial judgment — she had to know how it would look if the defendants made an issue of it, and that they were definitely going to make an issue of it. It’s a shame because on the merits her case is excellent. https://wapo.st/3Vado6q
I kinda have to agree with Putin here. Russia is getting its ass kicked by farmers on tractors. Why would they want to pit their woefully inadequate military against the vastly superior NATO forces? That would be crazy.
@interfluidity Tell me about it.
@peterdrake That's usually a sign of a stack overflow from infinite recursion in your code.
OpenAI is going through a similar problem Google has been going through for years.
You hire a bunch of engineers and sell them on a mission but then it turns out their principles get in the way of the company making money so they feel betrayed.
Then you start firing them.

@ThinkingSapien Like any hobby, when you enjoy arguing, you'll look for any excuse to do it.
@lirontocker Interesting. That has very much not been my experience. Every Jewish person I know IRL (especially those in the LGBTQIA community) is currently furious at Israel, and those who previously identified as Zionists have renounced it. I guess I just assumed that pattern extrapolated out.
I know #Microsoft's Feedback Hub probably doesn't actually go anywhere, but it was a bit cathartic filling this out anyway.
@interfluidity Yep. The .NET team is great. Xbox stopped being so childish and annoying. Windows was stable and simple again with v10.
Then they had to fuck it all up with AI.
(And that's coming from someone who loves AI!)
@Ciantic @SecurityWriter Sigh. I miss Windows Phone 8. Windows 8 was a terrible operating system for PC, but it was pretty solid for touch-displays and the phone version was very well-thought-out. Just never did catch on with the app developers though.
@SecurityWriter I mean, I *was* a Microsoft fan and advocate for 17 years before they started putting AI in everything without an opt-in.
When you hear "college educated white folk," picture:
* A barista at a Starbucks in Portland
* Pam and Jim from The Office
* Military officers
* Teachers
None of these people are making bank.🤷🏿♂️ They're slightly pro-Trump or pro-Biden, depending on the region.
When you hear "non college educated white folk," picture:
* Tech startup founders that drop out of college
* Trades business owners (plumber, electrician, etc)
* 70% of real estate agents
* 77% of sheriffs
Rich. Very Trumpy, everywhere.
@mekkaokereke What does Silicon Valley have to do with this? Couldn't you just say "Billionaires" unmodified and it would be just as true?
@lirontocker Why would Jewish folks feel less welcome in the community?
I mean, yeah, there's a growing anti-Zionist contingent, but we're not stupid enough to think every Jewish person is a Zionist. The community is very much about acceptance of everyone who is peaceful.
Fuck. Every time he takes a step forward, he takes another back.
JFC. The brazen and naked hypocrisy of the leader of a third party openly using the party's platform and funds to support a different party's candidate is just revolting. That the candidate being supported is a fascist with polar-opposite ideals to #libertarianism is just icing on the cake. The #Libertarian party deserves better. McArdle is a pathetic crony MAGA sham.
