@koree That plurality is exactly what we're fighting for.
@hasani They didn't give "unlimited power". They gave freedom from prosecution. It's essentially a free pass from their branch of government. And obviously the executive would have a free pass from its own branch, so that leaves only the legislative, which can still impeach and convict, but only while the person is still President and only if Congress has the political will.
So, while it is a major stripping of accountability, it's not truly "unlimited power".
@ZachWeinersmith Well, it's curved, so it'd be like a funhouse mirror, right?
Depending on the radius, you'd either see yourself stretch around the whole thing, or a bunch of yous endlessly reflected (and probably looking a bid wider than you remember).
@jess On the contrary. If I don't think Biden can win, then my best option is to convince other dems to get behind another candidate. If enough do, then Biden might do the same, and that might be enough to save us.
The first step of that is getting other democrats to acknowledge that Biden is the kind of liability that may hand us a Trump presidency.
It really worries me how many liberals are in the same "nobody sane would vote for Trump" camp that lost us the election in 2016.
Pull your heads out of the sand!
@jess Not coherently.
I watched it from beginning to end. Trump walked all over him.
And it's funny that you assume "bad faith" just because someone disagrees with you.
I voted for Biden in 2020 and I'm voting for him again this year.
I'm just worried that won't be enough.
@jess It's interesting that I criticized his actions and you interpreted that as criticizing his character.
If he's such a fine candidate, then why was he unable to coherently push back on Trump's lies himself?
@wkfry General consensus is that the request to drop it for that reason was never expected to actually work... it's just enough of a wrench in the works to delay sentencing enough to prevent it from happening before the election.
@jess Why didn't Biden push back on the lies during the debate? If he can't do his job, why should we expect anyone else to do it for him?
@wendinoakland @palin Which is why they're in such deep denial over the subject.
@CosmicTraveler Not all dogs. Mine doesn't care at all. He'll look up at me for the first couple, then just lay down and ignore it.
@palin Half the country, maybe more.
To them, the racist felon will protect them from the onslaught of foreigners who want their jobs while the other guy will just fall asleep at the wheel (as he confirmed during the debate).
Pretending Trump is so bad that nobody will vote for him is how he won in 2016. Let's please keep our heads out of the sand this year and recognize the very real threat coming our way.
@interfluidity I hate that people still associate Silicon Valley with tech innovation.
It's not. It's where VCs go to die.
The rest of us around the world are the ones actually innovating.
@palin Replace "President Biden" with "Candidate Hillary" and that could have been posted in 2016.
@glassbottommeg I bet it's somehow still very wholesome.
@Av8rdan Wait, X-Plane simulates equipment failures? Or is that a mod?
Also, just curious, what's your controller setup?
@kegill It's not hard to warn people when they're just playing their part in an endless cycle.
It sometimes seems that humanity is doomed to endlessly repeat our mistakes for the crime of not learning from our history.
