snoot switcheroos are leading causes of trust issues for pets

@wendinoakland@mastodon.social @w7voa True, but we like wannabe fascists and doddering old fools even less.

Perhaps having U.S. space transport and classified space-based security operations dependent on a chaotic fascism-supporting billionaire is problematic. Also, if you are using Starlink, you're now supporting Trump and everything that means. And if you buy a Tesla now, you can't claim "you didn't know" that they're as much a part of fascism as the original VW was part of the Nazis.

@wendinoakland@mastodon.social @w7voa His running mate, who was chosen for that exact purpose?

@KathyLK Occam's Razor is that he just doesn't want to be a Senator in Donald Trump's America.

“Let me tell you this: if you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it's not because they enjoy solitude. It's because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them.”
― Jodi Picoult

My friend Sam Mehr and colleagues have a fun new online game that is also part of a public science research study.

I suspect more than half of you all can beat my 50th percentile on music. Can more than a sixth of you beat my 86th percentile on color?

This game probes your intuitions for how color tones and music tones fit together.

Try it!

@ct_bergstrom I thought I was terrible on music and great at color.

Turns out I'm middling at both. Huh.

@carnage4life Those may be the reasons they're supporting Trump.

But the reason they're announcing their support publicly is to grovel for oligarchic positions in his future administration.

@servelan @stephstephking Uh, yeah, Twitter use is now explicitly funding fascism. Staying on the platform is akin to donating a couple bucks to the Trump campaign yourself.

People really tell themselves they would have joined the Resistance in WWII and they... couldn't even stop using a lousy website

#SheldonWhitehouse and a slew of other Democratic Senators have cosponsored a bill establishing terms limits for Supreme Court Justices. This is just one version of the idea, but since it already has traction with Senate Democrats, it is worth a closer look as a harbinger of what Biden may be willing to get behind. Here’s Whitehouse’s press release describing the bill. whitehouse.senate.gov/news/rel 2/

@JasonPerseus True, but from what I understand, they swarm those rallies and their presence is ubiquitous. You don't have to lock down the whole country, just a couple square blocks.

This guy talks about it in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=Q-fSDCb_JE

He talks about how there were soo many Secret Service agents everywhere that the idea of an assassination attempt didn't even cross his mind until long after the shooting.

@JasonPerseus I have to imagine that attempts that are thwarted by the Secret Service far earlier in their inception/execution are more common. This is just one that got through the net.

@ThinkingSapien

Note 1: Seller reviews on Amazon *cannot* be edited and once removed, they *cannot* be restored, or rewritten. So, all the sellers have to do is scare the buyer into taking it down, even "temporarily", and they're good forever.

Note 2: I reached out to Amazon about this multiple times. I figured they'd want to know that one of their sellers was gaming both the legal system and their review system to screw over their customers. I was wrong. They did not give a shit.

@ThinkingSapien Hell no. It cost me $1000 to hire a lawyer in a state I don't even live in to file a request for summary dismissal, but I know it cost the seller more than that, and the review is still live, so I'm cool with it.

Also, when I initially received the legal threat letters (i.e. I hadn't been served yet), I wrote the response letters myself. They are popehat-level rants breaking down why their argument is full of shit and telling the seller's legal counsel he should be ashamed of himself for writing such thuggish and meritless threats.

I might need to dig that up and DM it to you. With your interest in 1A, you'd appreciate the content. 😆

@deweyritten Yeah, because every productive debate starts with "fuck you, you pretentious sack of shit" 🙄

I'm good with sidestepping that toxicity. Have a nice day.
