What's next? A ban on sugars that are easy to convert to alcohol?

@dreks @jeffjarvis It hasn't ever been representative before, why should it be now?

@h_thoreson If you pay with a credit card and you can document your attempts to stop service, then you can ask your credit card company to shut off payments to them. Not only would that solve your more immediate problem, but in the long run it would cost xfinity money to try to chase down the reason and explain themselves to the credit card company.
Play the game and get you some legal revenge.

@carnage4life That's because those of us who were sane have already sold and gotten out. Only the lunatics remain.

@glassbottommeg It's perfectly cool to say "pair" or "duo" or "partners" when only one of the two has any public profile with the community.

A thing I can’t emphasize enough when engineers ask me “is AI scraping fair use” is that it really, really depends (more than it should!) on how judges feel about AI.

Google Book Search: judges love (and can easily comprehend) that → scanning is fair use.
Google AI: ??? → scraping…???

Elon: lol, judges all know he’s a dick → scraping is legal!

@iwein @Wolven That's assuming there would be checks in place to identify the bias to destroy in the first place. And those checks, if they're done at all, would be done by humans... probably cops with the same biases we're trying to eliminate.

@iwein @Wolven On the contrary. When you train it with biased data, you get output that's just as biased.

So not only would it not be "impossibly hard", but rather it would be the baseline expectation for it to be as biased as the human colleagues.

@Wolven Holy shit.

I'm a huge proponent of AI and think it has a lot of promising applications and I really enjoy developing with it, but that's *fucking terrifying*.

@jer What's the point in having amazing hole-in-the-wall restaurants introduce us to new cuisines when we have McDonalds?

The answer to both questions is the same.

@evan Need to break that 2-5 category down into "2-5 years" and "since Elon"

"Why do people keep ghosting me?" asks person on dating site with ten-year-old profile photo.

Please reboost!

I'm declaring the official cut-off for the millennial generation to be "visited geocities".

When I talk about digital privacy, there is always some smug genius who shrugs and tells me, "Who cares? We all know we don't have any privacy anyway." Nothing could be more wrong. Convincing you that the fight is already over to the way people in power get you to stop resisting.

I'm pretty new to , so every time I read a publication about the subject, it baffles me how much they talk about the state of Georgia.

Then I realize "GA" stands for "general aviation" and I have to re-read the article.

Nothing says innocence like having Lauren Boebert and Matt Gaetz show up to your criminal trial in solidarity.

"Accentuate the positive"

Okay, I'm on board with that, sounds good.

"Eliminate the negative"

That... sounds a bit ominous.

"Don't mess with mister in-between"

What the fuck are you on about now?
