This aged well.
@andrew Idk about that... Just by defeating Trump for a second time, it puts Trump's entire movement in jeopardy. There would be mass infighting in the GOP over whether the twice-loser Trump faction can maintain control, the old guard takes back control, or some new group takes advantage of the chaos.
Either way, it would make for some interesting midterms that could lead to radical reform in the back half of the first term.
@Leefromphilly @amyedge @Jennifer Unity was always the goal. We were just legitimately concerned that Biden no longer had what it took to defeat Trump after that debate. Most of us would rally around any competent candidate, and Harris is very competent and qualified, so it's a no-brainer.
🤦♂️ douchebag
Biden and Harris have filed paperwork to transfer Biden-Harris funds to “Harris for President.” https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/21/politics/fec-biden-harris-campaign-account/index.html
As of 4:55 pm, 7/21, these Democratic Senators, Representatives, and Governors have endorsed #KamalaHarris (source: Washington Post).
@Leefromphilly @amyedge @Jennifer One way or another, it'll be decided by the first or second week of August.
If enough people get behind Kamala, then nobody else will throw their hat in the ring and it'll be a done deal and we'll be golden, a party united against fascism.
If any other serious contender enters and gains support, then we may be in deep trouble, but the short time frame helps blunt the worst effects of an open primary.
@Leefromphilly @amyedge @Jennifer Oh, it's definitely not a done thing. From what I've read so far, it'll be an open primary. But, Harris already has Biden's support and the support of several elected Dem members of Congress. Momentum is very much on her side.
@dalfen Seems like it's already pretty obvious. Momentum is only moving one direction right now.
@samlitzinger Which is exactly why newspapers were only calling for one to drop out, to the absolute bafflement of half the people on social media.
@Leefromphilly @Jennifer @amyedge Yep, agreed. And so far, that appears to be what's happening.
@elfkin The conviction is unchanged, but the relief is palpable.
@moira That was always the plan. 🤷♂️
@dalfen What's "pointless"???
I and many others are actively excited to support a great new candidate. There's enough enthusiasm to go around.
@Leefromphilly @Jennifer @amyedge Hell yes. I think she has a much better chance than Biden.
@Jennifer @Leefromphilly @amyedge Same. I feel like a weight has been lifted.
Pleeeease make #KamalaHarris the top of the ticket.
The Cop vs Criminal narratives write themselves.
One way or another, #JoeBiden truly secured his legacy on this day.
