Not honoring Do Not Track (DNT) is a #GDPR violation. If you receive a DNT signal, you must turn off all tracking. Furthermore, as the person has made their choice explicit and clear, you must not ask them again (via popovers, modals, etc.)

How do we get this enforced. The first part seems like it is already covered by GDPR. Would the second half we enforceable under the current framework?

Thoughts?

I think that’s a great approach!

Here was something I dropped before I decided to just do lots of emojos.

I wanted to learn human anatomy for drawing but wanted better visual breakdowns of it and was disappointed by the material I could find. So I decided to try to build my own models of understanding from drawing books as well as public domain medical anatomical texts, and I came up with this idea of breaking down muscle insertions/origins as if it was some kind of metro diagram.

In case anyone was wondering what is... Well aside from being the name of our instance it stands for "Question Others, Teach Others" and is pronounced like "goto", it is an intentional play on words "goto QOTO" sounds like "goto goto".

I think it's really disgusting that facebook owns the two largest messaging apps, taking whatever of my data they want from them.

I'd love to be able to use the open-source alternative telegram, but the issue is that literally no-one I know uses them and I don't want to force people to download an app to be able to talk with me.

My research involves quantifying trace, toxic, particulate matter with neutron activation analysis. This is the neutron generator I use to irradiate air sampled filters, which are then analyzed by gamma spectroscopy.

Deuterium gas feeds into the magnetron on the left, which is ionized into plasma. The plasma strikes a deuterium film target in the chamber on the right, producing helium and a neutron beam. Aluminum then moderates the beam to thermal energy.

I read about a new smart wall (glass) from NanaWall.

I was wondering how it worked. So far I only learned something about nematic liquid crystal displays (LCD). With the following cell configurations Fréedericksz cell, VA cell, twisted nematic LC cell (similar to the Fréedericksz cell).

I read a little in a book [1] about polymer dispersed LCDs (PDLCDs).
These displays can address states between a scatter mode, where the display looks like a opal glass panel, and a transparent mode. With a contrast ratio of approx. 40:1, compared to a newspaper with a contrast approx. 8:1.

That sounds very similar.

Some more information about PDLCDs:
The nematic liquid crystals are arranged as droplets in a polymer binder between two glass plates with electrodes.
These droplets have a random orientation and so the refractive index is random. This causes the light to be scattered at a wide angle to the observer (scattering mode).
By apply an electric field the molecules orient themselves parallel to the field. With the result that the refractive index is almost the same. This means that the light can not scatter through the display (transparent mode).

This type of display don’t require a polariser.
I think that’s a big advantage of this technology. This way don’t lose 50-60% of the light beam at the polariser. This enables us to achieve a high transmission rate.
In my opinion, one disadvantage is that we need an applied electrical field for the transparent mode. Because in this case I don’t want an opaque window at a power blackout.

This was just one possible technology. Wikipedia [2] lists these technologies: electrochromic, photochromic, thermochromic, suspended-particle and micro-blind and polymer-dispersed liquid-crystal devices.

Maybe you have another idea.

Now it's time. Good night.

In 1955 the new General Building Regulation came into effect. The previous one in 1929 was the one that actually blessed the creation of the #multiresidence by establishing what we say "horizontal ownership" i.e. the possibility to own just an apartment. This one is the one that actually defined how the city looks like since it was in effect during the construction of the majority of multiresidences.

@Sander

Probably the best lesson about nature that these kids learned from this activity. (Star Wars: There is always a bigger fish.)

Hi!

I study photonic engineering. My current main interest is in physical phenomena, including Fourier optics, holography, light sources (e.g. lasers) and optical components (e.g. LCDs).

What do you think of a non-invasive brain interface?
