@freemo

They got their senses mixed up. It should come with nanobots in the fluid that have tiny built-in iPods that constantly play the jingle for the company's product.

@trinsec @freemo

>The resolution was so low, I thought it was kinda like Geordi LaForge style stuff over the eyes.

Geordi is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. That was no coincidence that that character had his eyes covered. It was the racist producers trying to make the black guy look less human. Covering the eyes of black men in film and TV is a very common form of subliminal racism.

@freemo

Yeah, most people wouldn't even notice.

That twitter account shows the black guy struggling to do simple math problems (4+4=?), among many other derogatory posts.

@freemo @funny

>I think the boomer is supposed to be the adult that is being critical of the children playing video games even when outdoors...

Oh, I didn't get that. Light sabers were late 70s, so I guess both of those gen X characters are actually gen X?

Also, that @MrHoesMad twitter account appears to be a fake account set up by a white racist pretending to be a black person. Most of the posts try to make the black guy look stupid.

(Notice how the avatar in the image you posted shows the black guy's eyes covered up. This is a common technique used by racists in old media to try to make black men seem less human. This is what tipped me off to the account being fake. I don't know why twitter let's racists like that keep posting while shadow-banning legit account holders.)

@freemo @funny

The boomer frame is chronologically inaccurate, since boomers were already adults before video games were widely available in the home.

@freemo @bonifartius

Yeah, guys often think with the wrong head.

@freemo @bonifartius

>I set my alarm for 8am and dong get out of bed till like 10 seconds before 9am, just enough time to get to my computer.

Are you saying that your dong wakes up before you do?

In the US, more people have died from COVID-19 since the vaccines have been available than died from COVID-19 before the vaccines were available.

Respirators actually work.

Germany and Austria required FFP2 respirators and had a mostly flat death-rate this year.

The CCD in the US told people to take their masks off and the death rate soared.

@tripu

I always thought that helicopter parenting was when your kid screwed up, you take 'em up in a helicopter and tell them that if they screw up again, you'll push 'em out.

@asmitakalita@mastodon.social

Or it can also mean a short stool, but in this context, it probably means a mound of dirt or grass, as you said.

The reason why LMM doesn't know what a tuffet is, is because she is a fictional character. She doesn't know anything. She doesn't even exist.

@katie@mstdn.io

Yes, we really don't enough info to sort this out. It sounds like the folks at DOT are also trying to sort it out. They mentioned a behavoral study, also, suggesting distracted driving, seatbelt use, etc. But an increase of 13% in traffic along with a 18% increase in fatalities doesn't sound too out of line, especially with all the other variables involved.

@katie@mstdn.io

I didn't even look this up when I fired off that toot. It just seemed that the increase is likely due to a comparatively low number in 2020 due to covid, rather than something special in '21.

I just now looked up the press release and sure enough it says, "...vehicle miles traveled in the first half of 2021 increased by about 173.1 billion miles, or about 13%. "

So that's likely why fatalities increased. The accident and fatality rate will go up, but it is not going to go up linearly with the increase in miles traveled because when there are more cars on the road they are more likely to bump into each other. So it makes sense that a ~13% increase in vehicles on the road results in a ~18+ increase in accidents/fatalities.

@katie@mstdn.io

Nobody was driving in 1H 2020 because they were all in lockdown due to COVID-19.

It wasn't an increase in 2021, it was a comparative decrease in 2020.

The truth is...

Little Miss Muffet had no idea what a "tuffet" was even though the term was used in her eponymous nursery rhyme to describe her posture.

TruthBeTold = A statement that is logically or literally true (or partly true), but seems to imply something that isn't true or is just plain weird. (for rhetoric, logic or propaganda studies... or just for fun)

@freemo @mc @Science @funny

Ah, OK. I wasn't sure if that was intentional or not. I should have realized, considering the author of the toot!

>When you jump out of an airplane its not you that are flying, you are just laying there peacefully. Its the ground that is flying... upward...

That's actually an accurate description of objects in a gravitational field according to general relativity. Falling objects that are "weightless" are at rest, while object that are experiencing gravity, like the ground, are accelerating.
