I've been thinking a lot on sentience, and specifically my personal sense of self. It's honestly a miracle that all these disparate elements somehow came together to make me.
It makes it hard not to ask myself 'What If?' questions.

So, I gotta admit, I'm experiencing some cognitive dissonance over the whole Bill Cosby thing.
I believe justice was served, of course, but part of my brain has trouble divorcing Bill Cosby from his character on The Cosby Show.
I remember growing up that he was a really important role model to young men- young black men, in particular- but everyone could be like Cosby. Everyone could be that kind of genteel and well spoken man.
Again, I'd like to say that I fully support the decisions, and there is no doubt in my mind that Bill Cosby is a violent sexual predator.
However, I'm still having brain pains from my previously held views versus the truth.

So, I just watched the Mr. Rogers documentary "Won't You Be My Neighbor."
I recommend it. It is truly fantastic. As a kid who grew up with Mister Rogers in my neighborhood it was a nostalgia trip and quite informative. I've always had a great deal of respect for Fred Rogers- and it seems to have been well placed.
It's time to play everyone's favorite game: Who wants to be a millionaire and/or lobster!~

According to a 19th century legend, the Truth and the Lie meet one day. The Lie says to the Truth: "It's a marvelous day today!” The Truth looks up to the skies and sighs, for the day was really beautiful.
They spend a lot of time together, ultimately arriving beside a well. The Lie tells the Truth: "The water is very nice, let's take a bath together!" The Truth, once again suspicious, tests the water and discovers that it indeed is very nice. They undress and start bathing.
Suddenly, the Lie comes out of the water, puts on the clothes of the Truth and runs away. The furious Truth comes out of the well and runs everywhere to find the Lie and to get her clothes back. The World, seeing the Truth naked, turns its gaze away, with contempt and rage.
The poor Truth returns to the well and disappears forever, hiding therein, its shame. Since then, the Lie travels around the world, dressed as the Truth, satisfying the needs of society, because, the World, in any case, harbors no wish at all to meet the naked Truth.

So I've been porting the open-source 
mmorpg / MUD game I've been writing here (in java

The new game is written in Ruby

It is a text based multi-player online game called a MUD. You don't even need a client to play, just telnet in to the server.
I've been working on porting over and improving the code that renders an area map. I finally have all the functionality ported over! I attached a screen shotto show what it looks like.

That is Sabah. When I left the US I left him with my sister. I knew I couldn't give him a good life with how hectic immigration is. For many years he has been happy and loved by my sister's kids and my sister herself. Today he was put to sleep because of cancer. He is a good boy, and I'm sorry I couldn't be there for him. I'll miss you Sabah, thank you so much for looking after my niece, nephew, and sister all these years.
