@worldsendless as long as zulip is self hosted, well free software is just better objectively, as long as the specific software is well written and works.
I recommend booting up a VPS somewhere and hosting a zulip instance so you can show them how it works and they can download the apps and try it.

@lucifargundam using over-complicated language to express what is effectively "no u wrong" makes me cringe, and no it was not always this way, it's only been this way since relatively recently, it used to be that people would accept they weren't intellectuals because there wasn't that much social credit and other kinds of resources to gain from it.

Culture has been destroyed by allowing unintelligent people in the spaces that used to belong to intelligent people, without strict filters, white and blacklists, and tall walls, It is impossible to create a space free of stupidity, in the real or virtual world.
Used to be that all you had to do is tell the truth and people would filter themselves out.

fiat currency has proven again and again to be unreliable and designed to be manipulated by the entity that prints it.
crypto is decentralized, has been under attack for years and remains strong and relies on the blockchain which is arguably the most reliable network in existance.
