OK, time for a serious plea to everyone who "just wants to learn."
I don't care if we're talking about racism, ableism, queerphobia, or whatever else. Your intention to learn is fine, that's a good start, please don't give up on trying to learn.
But lesson number one? HOW you learn really, really fucking matters.
Do not come into conversations among racialized communities and poke for answers. Do not enter disabled or queer spaces and start taking notes. Do not presume upon the time or energy of people just because you really want to learn from them.
If someone is not overtly and clearly offering to educate, do not ask them to teach. This also applies to people who DO willingly educate but may also, y'know, deserve an occasional break from being teachers.
Oppressed folx got enough shit to carry already, and y'all wandering in and acting like straight-up stalking us is a "healthy way to learn" are not helping anything.
Keep your desire to learn intact. Like I said, it's a good thing. Just aim it in the appropriate directions, for fuck's sake.

@pwinn It does! Now that's pretty wild. No vocals I guess; we'll see if anyone does anything in that area. :) Maybe human voices are still too prone to Uncanny Valley effects? Hard to say !

I always just use the website, none of the apps. I guess I'm old school. :) But any sensible app should make the federated and local streams reasonably obvious, I would hope! Silly apps.
I doubt there's a simple answer in any of this. :) At least in the US, the consensus of actual #copyright lawyers seems to be that this whole area is a mess and there's no telling what any court might find!
I would SPECULATE that if an image was used (only) as parody, then it would fall under the parody rules, regardless of how it was created. But who knows!

I'm a relative newcomer myself, and may be using This Place differently than you do, but...
I searched on some hashtags that I'm interested in, and looked at my server's Local and Federated streams (with "slow mode" on in Preferences / Settings), and was rather loose in who I followed :) and now I find myself getting updates from lots and lots of vessels. (Arguably too many, even!)
