#bookishadvent , #smallpress edition, day 15 is "Roving Pack," by Sassafras Lowry, a queer, #selfpublished #epistolary novel about a working-class trans teen navigating the demands of a hostile cisheterosexual world as well as the paternalistic "care" of the trans/troubled youth industry.

Some things should not be asked!
I was listening to The Rolling Stones, and I decided to ask my AI Bot to show me what was under my thumb -- and, well, as you can see, the results are not for the faint-hearted!
I also forgot AI Bots are still pretty terrible at rendering fingers, hands and thumbs so, In a way, I asked for it -- and it was delivered!
Teaching a #Python workshop?
When quizzing the room, avoid:
> What will this code do?
Instead try:
> What are the POSSIBLE things this code MIGHT do?
Followed by "which do you think Python picked?"
Starting with the space of possibilities is often less intimidating.
Hi everyone new! @nandoodles and I run @checkmyads, the one and only adtech watchdog. We’re independent, we have taken millions out of the disinformation economy, and we’re just getting started. Here’s how it works:
- Ad exchanges promise to keep brands “safe” away from disinformation and hate.
- We catch them breaking that promise, and publish investigations at checkmyads.org/branded.
- Ad exchanges drop publishers of disinformation and hate.
Welcome! We love friends
A mob of red deer stags in Richmond Park, they were on the edge of the woods and unless you stopped to look from most angles they were perfectly hidden, I crouched down to take the shot, that's when I could see how many there were (shot with a long lens it looks like I was a lot closer than I actually was). #RichmondPark #RedDeer #Stags #RedStags #WildLifePhotography #Nature #Photography #AltText

Hey #AppSec folks, I'm looking to fill a position. I have a director role for someone whose good at working with the business and development folks to understand their needs and bring that back to our security strategy while also helping empower those teams to drive security in their products. Sound like like something that might be a cool new challenge? Then I wanna hear from you!!

Took my kids sledging this past weekend on the mountain behind our village and whilst i gave them some warm rooibos - i noticed this seemingly fractal shape on a tree wrap. I suspect its from frozen water when it was stored, but could be wrong. I am fascinated about fractals though;
My daughter reminded of the “Let it go” song from @Disney@mastodon.social :)
“Frozen fractals all around…” Elsa, Frozen
Which is quite true.
In my college dorm room I used to have a "quote board" on my wall—a white posterboard with some markers nearby—where my friends and I would write down funny or pithy quotes whenever they occurred. I continued that practice for a few different housing situations after that because it was always nice, when one of us was feeling down, to go read the board and get inspired or just have a laugh. These two quotes that came up today won't mean anything to anyone else or sound particularly profound, I suspect, but if I had a quote board handy today, I would add them to it.
"objectively beautiful"
"he is the personification of goodwill"
Perhaps I will hang a board in my office space. 🤔

Shooting stars across Yr Wyddfa and a frozen Llyn Y Dywarchen last night. So many shooting stars, I almost ran out of wishes for every one!
Bitterly cold, but crystal clear and bright. I'm sure I might, maybe, just about, have heard sleigh bells in the distance...🎅
