Hey fediverse it's time for some #TransJoy
I love being #genderfluid. I love having an identity that flows and gives me so many opportunities to explore gender, and play with its expression. I value having a gender outside of the "norm", it's helped me know myself so deeply and I wouldn't change that introspection for anything.
I think being openly #joyful about being #trans is powerful. If any trans people wanna respond with their trans joy, feel free.
@nixCraft
std::shared_ptr FTW! :) Or unique_ptr.
@vegetablegremlin Needs another display or two :)
@Ask_aubry zomg I didn't realize at first they're NFTs. Even more lolz!
@Ask_aubry Is that from truth.social? I guess he has continued to spare the birdsite his presence...
@Ask_aubry lolz forever :D
@AmberWavesofFlame I don't know; they're republishing information that's already completely public; so it's hard to say.
This wouldn't apply to tracking someone's car, or their own location, both of which aren't public information, and which I think would already be justly banned.
There's lots of fascinating law in this area. :) Is training a model on an image a protected use of that image, in any given jurisdiction? There's probably little or no case law on the subject (in the US at least), and the wording of the statutes isn't that helpful.
I think the companies making the AI art tools may be subject to two possible kinds of claims that don't apply to photoshop: that the tools were made using an impermissible use of the works, and that the tools make it too easy to impermissibly reproduce the works. I don't think either kind of claim is obviously good OR obviously bad; it's all new territory...

In the US at least, the character itself isn't copyrighted (that's not the kind of thing you can copyright), it's trademarked. And uses that would violate copyright often don't violate trademark.
But making it clear to Disney et al that these technologies as currently constituted CAN be used to violate their various rights (including copyright if a work is sufficiently derivative of a copyrighted work), seems like it might be a pretty brilliant idea. :)
I get what you're saying there, but if the AI art tools (which I personally love, btw) were created by making commercial use of images that were explicitly licensed only for non-commercial use, that could easily be a copyright violation that shouldn't be let pass.
I think the idea of getting some of the Big Hitter copyright holders involved in this way may turn out to be pretty brilliant. :)

Someone sent this to me earlier today.
Now it is stuck in my head because I apparently never looked at them as I was stuffing them in my mouth.
It's like the winning lottery numbers in that old fortune cookie I threw away years ago all over again. Sigh.
I don't believe I was always so oblivious to details but here I am.

@azzurite many #Mastodon instances let you see their public feed. The page can typically be found using this URL scheme:
https://[INSTANCE]/public
Example:
Additionally, every #Pleroma instance lets you see their public timeline from their home page.
That I know of, no #Gab instance has any feature like this.
Today's excellent vintage #scienceFiction #spokenWord #audio listening:
So many of these I remember reading in the original form, in Dad's old collection of SF in the attic 😭.
AI Art stuff; maybe a little light plagiarism
(The inevitable extra fingers are especially jarring in these, yow.)

I'm thinking it has to be VERY common images, so maybe there are only, like, a dozen that do this? Even "migrant mother" for instance produces (rather striking) things that I wouldn't call copies or derivatives (in the common meaning) of the Dorothea Lange photo.
A consciousness somehow associated with matter.
Posting about culture, philosophy, politics, AI Art Tools, NaNoWriMo, Software Development occasionally, the relationship of consciousness to matter.
