For 11 years I have talked conspiracy theorists off the ledge using microwave ovens as examples. The President can write an Executive Order laying claim to anything you own. However, they will never have the manpower to enforce this. No Congress will authorize this.

The people they send would have conflicts of interest immediately with relatives, friends, and loved ones. The seizures would have to take place simultaneously with every adult household in the US or people could hide their assets.

When I was a teenager I knew that I wasn't a lesbian. But it wasn't as simple as calling myself bisexual, either. and I didn't have to think about it too hard, because there was queer, right there, an umbrella term big enough to cover all of us, an invitation to solidarity and inclusion. it was easy. it didn't leave anyone out. it was quick and efficient. you could say it like a flung rock. you could sing it like an aria. it had defiance built in.
