#CVE 1337: CAT OWNERS, BE AWARE OF THIS CRITICAL-LEVEL EXPLOIT. This is a denial of service attack on Layer 3 network stacks. Payload involves cat asking for treats, then, pretending to be starving to the next person they meet.
Hardware-level exploit, so patch is impossible. Only option for remediation is to participate.

Are you in northern California and looking for a new friend? We've been fostering kittens rescued from a nearby colony and have 4 more that need homes (we've rehomed 10 so far this summer). All of them make wonderful pets and are used to kids, dogs, and other cats.
The rescues are all full and we don't have a way to find homes for these without just surrendering them to the SPCA. We've tapped our network of friends and family and hope Mastodon can help.

This week at the #INTERACT conference I will present our research into Online Collaborative Story Writing systems.
We studied how people collaborate to write shared narratives, considering works since 2012. Among others, we review works by @andresmh @Riedl @msbernst
We put all this in perspective adapting Lowry's 2004 Taxonomy of Collaborative Writing to online authoring of narrative.
Our review shows how focus is on rudimentary activities like writing and revising. Yet, other important activities and roles such as outlining, leadership, facilitation, etc. remain left out. This is probably due to these tasks commonly remaining implicit in individual authoring. Yet, arguably these are what makes good narratives stand out.

Best-selling car models vary widely across different regions of the world. In this toot, I will compare the sizes of the following areas: ASEAN, Latin America, Europe, North America, and the world overall.
ASEAN is a regional grouping of 10 countries in Southeast Asia. The best-selling car model in ASEAN in 2021 was the Toyota Hilux. The second best-selling car model was the Isuzu D-Max, another pickup truck. So the ASEAN region loves pickups!
Latin America is a region that includes Mexico, Central America and South America. The best-selling car model in Latin America in 2021 was also the Toyota Hilux. Another pickup-loving part of the world.
Europe is a continent that consists of 44 countries. The best-selling car model in Europe in 2023 was the Tesla Model Y.
North America is a continent that includes Canada, the United States and Mexico. The best-selling car model in North America in 2022 was the Ford F-Series,.
Africa again favours pickups and again the HiLux is the best-selling car.
The world is a planet that has about 200 countries and territories. The best-selling car model in the world in 2022 was the Toyota Corolla, a compact car.
Why is the world average a small car but the most popular in terms of single models almost always a pickup? Because second, third, and fourth places do tend to be dominated by popular small cars around the world. #weirdCarMastodon
