This is why I think Dr Mann in Interstellar was not wrong. He was much, much smarter than everyone else, his rationalising was flawless.

He was not a coward, but his actions made him appear to be one, from the point of view of an outsider who hadn't done the same calculations that he did

I mean, he was not wrong, he was just an asshole.

@soundwave i'm actually a fan of interstellar!
I loved the movie so much that i began to embrace dr. mann character.

Just 4 hours for my daily arxiv post to arrive! I'm eager to see what knowledge and surprise it would bring to my smooth brain.

@marathon lmao. Typo. Pardon me My mind must gone somewhere else.

Npackd 1.26.9 is the next stable release: github.com/npackd/npackd-cpp/r … or from the default repositories.

@npackd it's a bit ironic running an open source program inside proprietary os.
But awesome project nontheless!

@marathon
Don't wanna be rude but.
define "subjective" in this context.
Maybe i could learn a thing or two about english language.

Now for something completely different. I've participated in the Paint Over Fast Competition at Revision 2021.

Coastal Custodians (inspired by a chaos picture) was created within less than 24 h including sleep and breaks. It won 1st place. 🐳 💙

Element is so damn bad. When someone sends you a message after you've set a custom notification for them, it shows up as an audio source that can be controlled with the media keys.

Except it can't.

You end up spamming the play, pause, next, and previous keys without having any effect because Element stole the focus from your *actual* media player. The only solution is reloading the webpage.

And if this doesn't happen with the desktop client, too bad. Element is webshit that belongs in a browser tab, not a full-fledged separate browser that actually isn't a browser but really is because cRoSs PlAtFoRm NaTiVe ApPlIcAtIoNs that aren't native but actually are because … people don't understand what the word native means? :blobcatshrug:

@amolith
> native cross platform.

Hahahaha funniest thing i've ever read.

@soundwave well. Hopefully people will change in the future to develop and use a mathematical model for moral since it wayyyy more "just".

@soundwave unless you used mathematical model. :ablobderpy:
Like
Killing 4 peeps is always better than 10.
saving a person that could save a million live on demand is better than saving 1000 live that only hypothetically save another million but the time is uncertain.

@soundwave but moral itself is a branch of social knowledge and social knowledge is subjective :blobcatfunny:

covid, tinfoil

@bonifartius something is indeed a bit off.
But don't let that fact distract you that bungee gum possesses the property of both rubber and gum. :ablobderpy:

@hackernews@die-partei.social people will gradually move to telegram. And when telegram became "facebook"-ey too. People will use signal.
And people in the future will realize that xmpp is the true way of chatting :ablobdundundun:

@melovida @freemo @Science well. It's common for a model to have color.
Like red represent protein "a" and blue represent lipid or something something. :ablobgrimace:
