And I had the pleasure to chat with the admin of a nice and progressive Mastodon instance. I had heard about Quey.org, my feline loving friend Georgia hosts he nice @cats curated feline posting account there.

@freemo vouched for Quey's admin, which is a huge endorsement in my view too.

Plus, European location, under European Union Privacy laws -- this is something high on my considerations list.

goes to our friends at Quey.org -- quey.org/about/more

...to be added in a upcoming new version 2 of my "Why Choosing an Instance is Important" blog post -- quite popular and very satisfying to me as a curious and author.

Read original post for now?

@cats @freemo @snder Kudos for nice work.

Thanks for support Feline lovers, Spanish speakers and allowing native language posting in the instance.

Muchas gracias. Somos todos Uno.

@cats @freemo @snder

And thanks to the excellent added features included in the Mastodon fork, hard work performed by our admin and the many original programmers (, GlitchSoc, etc), we can also visit a remote instance and see their Local Timeline.

For us at least, here at Qoto, this link shows it : qoto.org/web/timelines/public/

Before any misunderstandings happen, this ONLY shows Public posts, done at the remote instance Local feed and ALSO sent on to all Federation members.

Would be nice to see this added to main stream -- maybe the developers could see the value and look at porting it?

Qoto's fork is on the Git here, open source and close to ready if desired for importing.

¿Hay ligeros errores de traducción en ese texto? ¿Desean que les ayude a corregirlo?

@design_RG

I know the admin of Quey personally. He lives in the Netherlands and we have hung out in the past. Good guy.

I wouldn't label quey as "progressive" though. They aim to be politics neutral last I saw.

@cats

@freemo @cats Thanks for the clarification.

Being EU located and with local citizenry membership would tend progressive in my opinion, but this is a guess of mine.

Very refreshing to see an instance natively supporting Hispanic users. Thumbs up!

If you have any more questions or anything you can always ask me 😃

We aim to be neutral indeed but people have right on their opinion ofc ❤️

@design_RG @freemo @cats

@freemo

For sure! But don't look at our 'Sinterklaas' shit.. That's bad.

@design_RG @cats

@snder

I wouldnt say all that. I mean historically yea it had plenty of influence from racist mentality of the past.. But in modern time, I dont think anyone who practices it expresses it as a racist act."

don't get me wrong, I have no issue with the movement to adjust it to remove the racist influences (such as adding different colors to the facepaint). That process is happening. But When I participated in it last year I saw no hate, or racism, or anything that illicited disgust. Just some kids having fun and race never seemed to enter into their minds.

My bigger issue was the protestors ruining it for the kids. I have no issue with them protesting and even agree with the direction they want to go. But dont put the kids in the cross fire.

@design_RG @cats

@freemo

That's completly true and I also use to think that way ;-) There's indeed no hate and it's for kids etc but I can't image how it must look like from the outside haha..

What if you where never here and never got a first glimps? The holiday is okay but with some changes indd..

Every year this get worse and worse.. I wonder when this will escalate. And indd the kids are the ones getting it..

@design_RG @cats

@snder

Oh it looks horrible to most from the outside I'm sure. Particularly people who have a strong interest in racial equality.

But I care less about how it looks and more about what it is. Its a good thing to change for sure, but in its current form it has no racism to it. So nothing the Dutch should be a shamed of.

change takes time, it is happening. I just hope it happened more peacefully than it is.

@design_RG @cats

@snder

Sadly we have been exposed to that -- Overload, omg.

December is already hard for people not interested in it, but I imagine in NL it's a degree or two deeper into Hell. 😜

Jeff posted many photos here.
@freemo @cats

@snder

Thank you, I would likely be visiting and reporting -- like I have done in the past. Still have accounts in all the instances listed in my blog page mentioned above.

Using pinafore.social as my Reporting reasearch client for Mastodon, GlitchSoc and Pleroma instances, it's single click to switch instances and be logged in fully.

Nolan has done remarkable work on Pinafore.

@freemo @cats

@design_RG

Very nice, that's a good way to keep track yes :blob_laughing:

I see you like our @cats very much? ❤️

@freemo

@snder

Yes, I had met and chatted with Georgia, a fellow Feline lover, and her account at Quey is a nice and Curated feed.

I do bring in many cat images from the plethora available on twitter, and they are very popular here -- as confirmed by the number of Boosts, likes and new followers I get after one of those batches of posts.

I used to be able to export from here to there, but our last round of upgrades seems to have broken my FF Twitter crossposter, sadly.

@cats @freemo

@design_RG

Oh cool! The #fediverse is the best place for that indeed ❤️ My little kitten also her own account 😆 @Poulet

What one do you use?
I know of two one of which is moa.party

@cats @freemo

@snder

since my primary account is here at Qoto, I have to use one that is accessible from this instance. So moa is the one for it.

I do like Renato Lond's crossposter too - in some ways it's even better.

crossposter.masto.donte.com.br

But we are personna non grata in the instance hosting it (Qoto is blocked - due to not blocking the fascists), so I used from other accounts.

@Poulet @cats @freemo

@design_RG

thats a matter of opinion. I dont think its accurate to describe Europe or the Netherlands as progressive in the least.

On certain issues they are liberal, on others conservative. But progressive would be a less apt label.

Hell I specifically moved to Europe to get away from the extreame progressives in the USA specifically because europe has less progressive mentality than the USA. For example I am in the top tax bracket in both the USa and europe and pay significantly less taxes in europe overall.
