Choosing BEST format for web images?
Images for the Web, forum posts, etc.
Choose your formats - we can help make faster loading webpages, reduce traffic if we chose the best format for images we include in our posts.
I noticed a lag on loading an image included in another website I linked to (in this status: https://qoto.org/@design_RG/103240153529603948 )
Didn't feel right, and it *wasn't*
I use Irfanview to edit, crop, compress images which I like to include in my posts here.
Had noticed the variations, on how sometimes PNG can produce significantly smaller files than the older JPEG format.
Sometimes it's the opposite - JPEG handles life imagery, more complex, better, giving smaller finished images.
Make a point to chose the best format - and be part of keeping things running as fast as possible.
A couple of examples follow, the original page image was a PNG, weighing a hefty *600 KiloBytes*, a bit too much for me.
See the Information boxes for the original PNG, and the improved JPEG, MUCH smaller.
I use the RIOT plugin with Irfanview, and it's a great combo. Both free, small, easy to learn and use. Recommended!

It happens to both #introverts *and* #extroverts. Here's why.

@freemo I think that's a nice way to be - there are many wonderful possible partners. Being open and available to chance encounters is good.
VPN status shows me 600 MB of down traffic, 7 hours session. No large downloads, just web pages.
Wowa.
https://protonvpn.com has excellent service and a FREE account option. 😉
@freemo No Mrs. Freemo then, huh?
I have good memories of mine, was in the morning, a simple affair, we had a breakfast served after. Low key and we could afford it.
Long time ago, now Bridezillas are a thing.
@freemo I find the big produced weddings hard to suffer through.
Poor grooms, and everyone else, at the bride's mercy. Ugh.
@binsrc Not sure who made it, but was posted at HT.

@freemo you are right, it's not.
Amazing #BletcheleyPark vibe, though!

@freemo I can see the 'divide by -3' step leadign to that result, but the final line is absurd, imo.
So, where did we break it? Infinity can't be equal to any number, including the poor little negative one twelfth.
/me suspects some logical violation on previous steps.
@freemo That is a nice explanation. Very rarefied territory. Wow. 😮
@freemo Yes, I recognize my limits.
Quantum mechanics and String Theory, particularly, fly right over my head.
Operating with the infinities above even made me think if it was a legitimate thing to do. 🤔
@freemo Thank you!
I already enjoyed seeing how you did the nice formatting - exposed in teh Toot editor when I was responding. Very nice result.
Will need to think about the meaning, next step or get the joke. 😉
@freemo
Not really. Did the subtraction, and get:
\[\ -3 \cdot \infty = \frac{1}{4}\]
Surely I am doing the wrong thing?
@freemo They might become more popular, someone could make a business of building and reselling them to customers without the time to build it.
Would be a nice way to create jobs too.

Yes, I would rather prefer any Portuguese wine to the Californian ones. Simply to support small producers and cooperatives.
I remember in my first trip in Portugal, bicycle touring. Got a bottle of Tinto somewhere, enjoyed it with meals. Later I was surprised to cycle thru the town and right beside the coop where it was produced.
Adega de Pegões, produced in Pegões, at the corner of the Setúbal district. I was on my way to lovely Évora. 😄
