@BroDoYouEvenDrift

when the top of the hood of a vehicle is reaching to an average man's shoulder height, something is really weird.

Ugly as foock trucks, but people are happy to pay absurd prices for them. Auto companies make $10,000 and more profit, per vehicle, so they don't mind.

This needs change.

That is not my experience. I t might depend on the specific location you are in, but I found food much higher quality and priced reasonably.

A let down when returning here.

@zleap The difference in government messaging between the two sides of the Atlantic is rather shocking.

@Phaedrus
From the photo itself I can see it has a very aerodynamic design.

I love seeing the smaller vehicles people use in Europe - sensible, much less fuel use, and it shows that pricing is one way to control the amount of energy people will consume.

Expensive gasoline, yes. And you won't see the monstrosities that we do get here in north America, where gas costs is much less to consumers.

Europe gets it right. I cringe when I come back from vacation there and see the ugly hulks, 2 tons of steel to drag one passenger around.

@11112011

@aluaces LOL....

No problem, I was wondering if people wouldn't get the intentional Pun on using that image. CAT filter indeed. 😜

@Maximordrg That's getting pretty close to the 100,000 fatalities prevision they had aired out earlier for the US.

Now, it will get worse with reopening economy. OMG. 😔

The Most Aerodynamic VW vehicle EVER.

A prototype, which manage to get a cx of 0.15 -- that is incredible.

"The most aerodynamic car ever to wear a Volkswagen emblem on its nose isn't the newest Golf GTI or an ID-badged electric model. It's a forward-thinking prototype named Aerodynamic Research Volkswagen (ARVW) developed and built in 1980 in response to the oil shortages that rocked the global economy in the 1970s.

Volkswagen initiated the project because it wanted to learn more about aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. Starting with a blank slate, its engineers designed an aluminum frame and topped it with a body made from fiberglass and carbon in order to keep weight in check. The single-seater stretched 196 inches long, 43.3 inches wide, and 33 inches tall, dimensions that created a silhouette much closer to a race car's than to a Passat's.

Making the ARVW as sleek as possible required mounting the headlights behind Plexiglas covers. There were no mirrors — they would have created drag — but a pair of winglets sticking out from the front end and two big fins out back were added to keep the prototype steady and on four wheels at triple-digit speeds. Its low, elongated body boasted a drag coefficient of 0.15. To add context, the Porsche Taycan Turbo's drag coefficient checks in at 0.22."

@11112011 "A produção da Volkswagen Autoeuropa representa 1,6 do PIB (2019) e 75% de toda a produção automóvel em Portugal. "

That is impressive! 🚗

@11112011 A Diesel too? man, nice.

I had a Diesel Kombi with a pickup body, and it was a great work vehicle. Cost of running it was so much lower than my other car, a VW Passat gasoline model.

@peterdrake Nice photos, I remember walking there in a summer weekend, lots of tourists with selfie sticks and cyclists trying to avoid running them down.

Great views too. 😄

@11112011 That is a gret looking model, wow. 😃

Here in North America, VW got greedy and I annoyed to pay double the costs for parts, compared to main stream US brands. So a Ford it is, but an Euro spec one, love it.

In Portugal it's more viable, there's so many German vehicles around.

@georgia@dickkickextremist.xyz 😺

LOL.... Give them the Hiss treatment.

@Ritik Hello Ritik and welcome to Qoto.

If I could make a suggestion, the Fediverse does not have the strict post size limitations that twitter imposes, for example.

I do post about my personal Blog here too, announcing new pages, but I find it works best if adding some more info on a Fediverse / Mastodon post. Consider maybe:

- adding a snippet of text, maybe the opening paragraph of your page.
- adding a relevant image to the mastodon post

These could tell people more, and maybe get you a reader. There's a lot of posts flying by, and people will not click on a link blindly.

(I did, since I am a mod team member and feel obliged to check new posters linkage for security reasons)

Enjoy your stay here, have a good day!

@ilanti Delete/Redrafted the post you replied to, reposted without fedi hash.

A public service announcement...

For anyone who is not into Cats (which I am), please pardon my posting all the cute Feline pictures, but it's , after all.

And a lot of us here in Fediverse like them.

Being concientious of others, if anyone DOES NOT want to see these, please look at my post below, which tells you how to quickly zapp all of them off your Feeds.

Enable the CAT Filter if you like. 😺

Have a good weekend. Thanks for being here.

@11112011 For many years, all my vehicles were VW. I loved the engineering. Only gave up on them when parts started getting ridiculously expensive, and me annoyed to be milked like that.

Happy with other brand now, more common, but I drive an European engineered model and enjoy it. :)
