@freemo I am hoping with the announcements of the new Pinafore Forum, we could get people joining in to read, and hopefully sign up to participate too.

Koyu just sent me a message this morning, she made a contribution to the Pinafore Git site, which I foudn awesome (allowing for connection to Whitelisted instances, like hers atm).

@freemo Yes, come and get in, Perks are free but stock is exhausting soon. 😜

Note to Self -- those are ready for a Blog post -- which would look pretty and document them well, spread the word. Add to clipboard notes...

@gioypi
Easy -- the Subscribe feature will Allow you to :

* see any Public posts that user makes.
* NOT show any post with higher privacy level.
* So it's NOT invasive as some people argued when this came online.
* Allows you to see posts without connecting and notifying the user.

Sometimes useful, for people who have locked accounts, which require approval for Following. However -- they should know that PUBLIC means just that, and have no expectation of Privacy in anything sent Public.

Worth mentioning that these and other new features introduced in January 2020 have really nice Documentation -- produced by myself, modesty apart... 😉

Data Centers? Would be under European jurisdiction, locals laws applying. Although I would still prefer to not have a Byte stored in a server under possible pressure from US 3 letter acronym agencies.

@freemo

@globcoco Check out the new blog page, today's.

A mention included. Thanks for the inspiration!

* Pinafore Client for Fediverse now has a Forum *

A new Pinafore client discussions Forum is now online at Qoto's Discourse Forums

We now have a new sub-forum, dedicated to the powerful and fast Pinafore client for Fediverse instances -- Mastodon, Glitch-Social, Pleroma are all supported.

I am a big fan of Pinafore, since first trying it. It is a popular client with power users, as it is FAST and Light, plus has elegant design, clean UI and many nice features.

Not only we have the new forum, but I have just collected a topic we discussed in our local feed - qoto.org/@design_RG/1043221509 -- and made it into a prettier, formatted and in-line illustrated page.

The way a good manual page could be; and there's a need, the documentation available is very limited; so I plan to add to it.

** Assigning Colour Themes to Allow easy Multi-Instances use in Pinafore Client. **

That is the Topic of today's Blog -- write.tedomum.net/rgx/pinafore.

*Topic can also be seen at the Pinafore Discourse Forum* -- discourse.qoto.org/t/assigning

See Snapshot for Release Announcement in a GlitchSocial instance.

@freemo Wonderful!

We should have an announcement of the important relocation of ALL Qoto data processing and storage to EU locations.

Want to do it, or I can, just give me some basic info to work with.

@richcist
I have a few blog posts talking about my early days in computer networking -- pre-Internet, when local BBSes were the amazing thing we could rach via our home phonelines.

Great times deserve to be remembered. Been involved in many communities since.

@freemo

@freemo Is that Alex Gleason's script? I saw him mentioning it, and that it was for v.2.8.5 or so; it might break with newer versions too, no?

@richcist

Thought I would mention -- i posted here about an intriguing Japanese Fediverse client called The Desk.

It has many controls, and fill up the whole screen; your choice of how many panels, width, etc.

Post is here : qoto.org/@design_RG/1043040469

@freemo

@freemo The current release of Glitch Soc is 3.1.4 -- same version number as Eugen's.

Feel free to do what makes sense for you -- the Front End is the important bit for me, where they added polish, extras, elegant controls.

And MarkDown and HTML tag enhanced text formatting at the user's discretion.

I suggested a wholesale install of GS, patched with your additions, as a lesser labour intensive idea, compared to full Pleroma redevelopment.

@richcist

You might be able to locate some good accounts to follow for your specific area using Trunk -- sort of a Yellow Pages for the Fediverse.

@freemo

@freemo Could we consider a full switch into a Glitch-Social instance?

It would be easier for you to work it out, while a Pleroma move would take longer, need more experimentation, etc.

As a short term solution, with the Pleroma project remaining a goal post -- as it reduces system resources and hosting costs considerably.

Please consider !!

Koyu's migration seem to have gone perfectly. (17 GB database converted fine) I know you have extras added, but patching GS should be tons easier than a whole new platform.

Thank you !

@freemo Yes, the code was from Glitch-Social, and made available for plain Mastodon by Renato Lond's work on his own instance.

Quoting one of my own posts :

"** We thank Renato Lond, the admin from masto.donte.com.br/ for porting the code from GlitchSoc and creating a Mastodon version, which he added to the main project Git.

Renato pointed me to github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/ for the code in question. "

@null0x0 Thank you! 😄

I love it too, it's so easy, I work in my plain text editor, then copy it into Write.freely or my Glitch-Social accounts, and it displays beautifully.

I am in awe at the power and ease of MD. Gotta get the word out! 😉

@richcist Glad to know that, Richard.

That is mostly thanks to Dr. Freeman, our admin here, who has tweaked the Full screen themes -- only two places I knew had the web client filling the full screen widths; here and Todon.nl.

Glad you joined us! @freemo meet Richard, who is a Grad student working for his next level, Physics major. Great area to be in, I love it.
