@susi123 @freemo Good morning! 😃

Ah, you need distractions, came to the right place. ☕ :coffeepot:

Grab a mug and jump in.

@_lunawinters Nice work, yes, keep drawing. Everything gets better with practice, and drawing involves very fine motor skills.

The one looking from the back of the person is my favourite.

@freemo @Surasanji @Gargron That's a fun picture. Poor kitty.

Here's a ncie one I recieved yesterday from the Cats bot.

@GaziRashid That's beautiful script. I can't read any of it, but it's faascinating how different cultures developed ways to communicate and preserve ideas in writing.

What are the contents of the image?

@GaziRashid And Peace be with you too, Gazi.

Welcome to Qoto! ☮️ 🕊️

@freemo The lyrics are pretty nice, I can relate to his feelings. Marie must be a good lover to spend time with (when she feels like).

Thanks for the link to FW. Got to see what it is all about. :thumbsup_hmn_h2:

@salad_bar_breath Encontre el mismo reporte de USGS que mencionas arriba. Muy bueno, puesto que es le mas reciente. Gracias! :thumbsup_hmn_g1:

@dpreacher @clacke That was a traumatic experience for the whole country.

Many people did not have bank accounts, and the government decided to recall and declare not-valid the largest value bills.

If I recall correctly, they gave people about 3 months to bring in their old paper bills, to a bank, with ID, to get it cashed in.

Replacement new bills were not available in the huge quantity needed, and there were huge lines at banks to wait and get your money in.

Sicne ID was required, the fiscal authorities could also know who was coming in and exchanging large amounts of cash, and cross check that with the person's previous tax filings.

The country has a population of 1.3 Billion people (I might be lowballing), the scale of this undertaking is phenomenal.

And of course, it was bungled. People wanting food, but having no cash to buy, Sellers having food, but buyers not having cash, food goes to waste. Huge disruption to the economy.

I am not an Indian citizen, but this made headlines in all the major international papers and magazines.

@salad_bar_breath The very beautiful photo is taken on the Salar de Uyuni, which is a favourite for tourists photography.

"Bolivia’s Lithium resources are estimated to be at the level of 9 million tons (USGS), highest in the world as per individual country and 22% of the world’s total. This is significantly more than the second- and third-placed Chile and Argentina, which hold 18% and 16% of the global total resources respectively. The Bolivian government claims that it has 70% of the world’s lithium reserves and the most optimistic estimation claims there is 140 million tons of lithium in Salar de Uyuni."

@realcaseyrollins @gab @shibaprasad @yantrajaal Twitter has a bad reputation for problems with abusive posting, and not reacting to protect users when it happens. Facebook declined to check content of any political ads, justifying with the "free speech" story.

American corporations even won the right to use "free speech" protection to be able to make donations to politicians, which leads to quid pro quo later of course. 😏

I think it's good if they are apart from other instances which have very different interpretations of what respect for others means, and don't apply the blanket coverage of an American law instrument to communities that extend all over the world.

@salad_bar_breath @mmu_man @eff It was insane indeed, and it baffled Americans returning from other countries to be subjected to searches they would not expect to happen anywhere in US soil. Border guards seemed to assert that until exiting the control area, people were not yet in US soil; neither in the country they had left, and so at the guards mercy.

Some of those agents are polite and reasonable, some are more truculent, possibly ex-military, and the treatment you will have when arriving is always unknown.

"Lithium

Bolivia’s key reserves are in lithium, which is essential for the electric car. Bolivia claims to have 70 percent of the world’s lithium reserves, mostly in the Salar de Uyuni salt flats. The complexity of the mining and processing has meant that Bolivia has not been able to develop the lithium industry on its own. It requires capital, and it requires expertise.

The salt flat is about 12,000 feet (3,600 meters) above sea level, and it receives high rainfall. This makes it difficult to use sun-based evaporation. Such simpler solutions are available to Chile’s Atacama Desert and in Argentina’s Hombre Muerto. More technical solutions are needed for Bolivia, which means that more investment is needed."

@salad_bar_breath Muy bueno, gracias!

Es un recurso precioso, mas aun con tanta produccion de autos electricos, que requieren mucho, mucho litio para las baterias.

Lo mejor seria se una compania Boliviana hizo la extraccion y purificaccion, mas diñero se quedando en Bolivia.

@salad_bar_breath @mmu_man @eff

Until now, the actual border crossing area was accepted as a grey area where even american citizens did not have their usual constitutional protections. That allowed border agents to demand and search any electronic devices that a person had.

Would be wonderful it this is no longer the case, better yet if the same applies to all incoming travelers, American or not.

@shibaprasad @yantrajaal Ah, I see. 😄

I have been visiting and looking at various places, reading what people say about the other instances and did visit the Gab site. Saw some posts that I find shocking, and many mentions of instances blocking their instances (there's more than one, some of different domain names that are affiliated)

I found a blacklist that some sites are using at this page:

"The resignation of President Evo Morales and other key officials in the line of succession for the Bolivian presidency on Nov. 10 has created a power vacuum leaving Bolivia's political and economic future up in the air.

Morales' announcement, which came amid persistent, widespread protests against disputed election results, capped a series of events that began with the president claiming a fourth term in office after the first round of presidential elections on Oct. 20 and ended with the leader of the Bolivian army asking him to step down.

Accompanying Morales in resigning were the country's vice president, president of the Senate and president of the Chamber of Deputies, leaving opposition politician Jeanine Anez Chavez next in line. Other key Morales allies in the government, including the mining minister, also quit. "
