automatically follow

@Sphinx
That account must have been created a few days ago.

Now it's me on that list, and all those new accounts are pinging notifications, pretty often.

Dr Freeman, why to we have the auto following for the new users?

@freemo

@freemo We could work something out, yes, the only problem is shipping it. Costly via Postal service here.

But can look into it if you want one. 👍

@freemo I like them a lot too. Built to last and not for a cheap, disposable product, like so much is today.

Have many here, in storage, and in use. Tactile feedback is cool too. 😉

@Sphinx

It is a common way to refer to a manual transmission here in North America.

In Europe automatics are a lot less common, and if you must have one for rental will cost a lot more.

@mngrif

IBM keyboards are worth hoarding!

"The last primary keyboard I’ll use in my life might be the IBM Model M. It’ll probably last me the decades to the day that keyboards should become obsolete. – Kheng Meng, 2018"

@mngrif @Sphinx It is a lot harder and probably frustrating to learn to drive a standard later in life.

It takes some coordination of movements, and can be learned.

I like standards, you can drive them whichever way you prefer atm, not only the default switching mode pre-programmed in the auto transmission.

They tend to be more fuel efficient too.

@Sphinx Yes, anchors are excellent - a quick way to navigate between parts of a long document, for example.

I leaned to create simple webpages a long time ago, and followed some suggestions from a friend telling me to treat a page like a news report.

Introduce the topic, with a paragraph at the top, then insert a simple text navigation menu like :

[ first] [second] [third][fourth]

...those being actual words to describe parts of the page.

in each of them, you would plant a link to an anchor in the relevant section, below.

"Samuel Pepys FRS was an administrator of the navy of England and Member of Parliament who is most famous for the diary he kept for a decade while still a relatively young man. Pepys had no maritime experience, but he rose to be the Chief Secretary to the Admiralty under both King Charles II and King James II through patronage, hard work, and his talent for administration. His influence and reforms at the Admiralty were important in the early professionalisation of the Royal Navy."

Samuel Pepys, have you met?

He was a quite interesting Englishman, who wrote extensive diaries of his life in the 17th century. some of the writing is very good for research, talking about meeting his many gentlemen friends at London's Cafés - at the time the Royal Society was beginning.

You can follow his diary now in via bot - @samuelpepys

@freemo I didn't even think about marital status, but knew right away who I wanted. Had to look at my videos catalog, couldn't remember the names.

Joanna Lumley, British actress, who presented a wonderful "Catwoman" docu on the BBC.

A short 2 min preview here. She's wonderful.

@freemo That sounds good, all reasonable points.

I knew right away who I would like for company, and it isn't an air headed star or starlet, a bimbo or sex bomb, but a lady who I would enjoy passing time with, chatting, getting to know.

Maybe more if chemistry worked.

So, no car or where to be driving in your case, uh? :wink:

A Japanese penpal just asked me on birdsite, this unexpected but delightful question.

If I had a chance to rent a car for 24 hours and take an Actress with me, where would I like to go.

And who would the actress be?

Already responded to her there, wonder what thinks ?

?

@freemo I have seen it reported in the media as a Trial process, and with the senators becoming a jury to deliberate on the veredict and the charges.

With one of the Supreme Court judges actually presiding over the proceedings.

All from media reports, I am not very familiar with the details.
