@Xoktz Puedo intentarlo.
Original in English, translation above via Bing :
I can certainly try.
- all instances are independant, and governed by their own administration and moderation teams.
- they can select a theme for their instance, and set a local tone, or run a more relaxed and generic instance.
- moderation is done mostly on content generated locally. WE don't have control over what other people in remote instances post, so it's best to not worry about it unless it affects a local user.
- if this happens, a local user is being harassed by a remote one, for example, they could contact their local moderation team, report the offending post(s).
- The local moderators will look at the posts, and if deemed offensive they might contact the remote instance moderation team and discuss the matter.
- with their cooperation, we can hopefully solve the matter and avoid any further escalation.
- if the remote admin and mods are not cooperative, as a last resort we could disconnect from that instance, no longer receiving their messages or sending them any locally created messages.
This should resolve the issues hopefully.
@freemo Wow, that is a big list of new features! Amazing, thank you.
some of them I have seen mentioned as features in GlitchSoc (bookmarks) but most are new as far as I know. 😄
Thank you for taking the time to push the envelope!!
@venkatesh Hello, and welcome to Qoto.
Enjoy the network and all it has to offer. If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: https://lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-guide-to-mastodon-1828503235
We also have another new users guide, posted here : https://write.tedomum.net/rgx/suggestions-and-guidelines-for-new-users-written-by-mastodon-art-administrator
@freemo
That sounds perfectly correct, but an unlisted post will not be casually discoverable by people browsing the public timelines, so it would remain obscure unless someone knew about them, specifically.
For the Arxiv bots, unlisted wouldn't work for that reason, although it would clean up the local timeline.
Yes, that sure is some serendipity at work. And the fact that you joined an instance that has a pretty liberal federation policy -- we only block an instance (currently two only, I believe) if there were problems with them, and they could not be resolved.
A lot of places have erected walls and blocked gab and their peripheral instances (yes ,there are some) since they first joined the fediverse, uninvited.
It was a big discussion at the time, I wasn't here yet but there are good articles on the net relating how it happened and what people said, did at the time.
@khird
That would make sense, to avoid clogging local timelines. But there isn't a privacy setting for Toots that matches that yet -- Federated but not local.
Unlisted would not show on Federated, and would make them hard to discover, unless the person knew they were there. And the next levels are even not occult.
@QOTO Discourse Forum loading has indeed improved -- Wonderful. TY!!!

@miguel31416 @Xoktz Hola y bienvenido a Qoto!
https://www.realdroid.es/2018/10/07/mastodon-guia-basica/
https://github.com/tootsuite/documentation/blob/master/Using-Mastodon/FAQ_ESP.md
@freemo Found it, and indeed is listed on About/More page:
"* Full text searches - usually you can only search hashtags and usernames"
@freemo I had suggested we could use the Dark Theme as the instance default, yes.
I think the site looks nicer on that than the Light colour one. Gargron uses the Dark Theme as default at m.social too. 🙂
@freemo I will have a look, thanks.
@freemo I think we should mention somewhere in our About this Instance that we also have Full Text Search -- which most places don't have.
Great time saver, I can usually pull up what I need in short order.
More results in Search is great too. 👍
