** Finding and Using a good Image Hosting Service **

I just posted a Detailed Guide to uploading files to a Image Host, here in a reply, deep into a Thread.

It is an important and useful subject -- so I copied and expanded the post, it's on my GlitchSocial Web Publishing account -- muensterland.social/@rgx

See it Here : muensterland.social/@rgx/10432

or the plain text original here :

qoto.org/@design_RG/1043201454

...but it looks Miles better at the other place.

for me Does what

@globcoco

There might be some service with a native Linux client, I would hope -- the functionality is just tremendous.

And I just made a much prettier version of my post, at my GlitchSocial account.

Look at it : muensterland.social/@rgx/10432

...and you will see WHY I must have now... 😛

@pixelfed

@globcoco

Ok -- how to :

* Pinafore in one Tab, with Qoto selected as the active instance. Call this Tab 1.
* Pinafore in a second tab, with [other instance with less Search power] loaded as active instance. Call this Tab 2.

If you need to find something from a Text search do this :

* jump into Tab 1. Select Search.
* Do it, and you will find any results Qoto has on file. Aha -- there it is.
* click on the Dot menu on that result post
* and select "Copy link to Toot"(screenshot added here).

Now you have the URL for that relevant toot!

* jump into Tab 2, and use it.
* you can insert the URL into Tab 2 Search field
* it will retrieve the Toot, and now you can Boost, Reply, Favourite, etc.

Or simply insert the Toot URL you already got, from Tab 1, into a new post or reply in Tab 2.

Voilá, c'est ça.

@freemo

@globcoco That is great.

Will love to see your work, please announce your new Blog posts here so people see them and read, follow.

A post like this one : writing.exchange/@rgx/10431534

...which I copied and reposted here at Qoto, and got lots of Boosts -- a useful Guide for Write.freely which is sorely needed.

@globcoco You are very welcome, chatting with you has been a delight, and I hope you can enjoy our instance here too.

Any good people you know and think will fit, once you get used to it a bit, they can apply for an account, we have registrations open, subject only to a few questions and answers at the front door.

@globcoco
It depends on the size and traffic on the instance, and how powerful their system is. I know one, which is a very fast one, small userbase but does not enable this, sadly.

We can always ask, as it's a great help.

And -- you can also do a search here, in one Pinafore Tab, logged into Qoto, find the link you need -- then jump into another tab and use it in an instance without full search.

@freemo

@globcoco
we all do -- The Wise ones are the ones who say there's much they don't know.

@freemo

@globcoco

The Search here is a delight for an active user -- me for example, lol...

a standard Mastodon feature, but turned off in most places to save system resources.

@freemo

@freemo

>> How so, never heard that one before...

I think it's because she is using a new Client, Pinafore, and still getting to know it .

If you find your Topic or Thread in the Local feed, all the sequential posts will show under it.

Also accessible easily from a notification on any of the replies. Expanding into the topic makes it easier to follow indeed.

@freemo

@Placholdr Wonderful -- the guide in that first link is the very same I used to understand and learn this new place -- I only started here 6 months ago, and there is so much to learn and enjoy.

As well as seedy places, good to know and avoid them. So a guide is great. Any questions, just ask.

@freemo
Some on the FediBlock gang DO block mastodon.social, just check Khyrd's kilometer long list.

Reasoning? poorly moderated, their words.

@resynth1943 @globcoco

@resynth1943

Exactly. And they go around Strutting, feeling self important, while doing destructive work. Despicable.

@globcoco @freemo

@resynth1943

Envious and poisonous people, yeah, I have seen them. The FediBlock hash is a frequent place they post.

@globcoco @freemo

@Placholdr Hello and welcome. I just replied to your #2 toot. Welcome!

@Placholdr Hello, and welcome to Qoto.

Enjoy the network and all it has to offer. If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-gu

We also have another new users guide, posted here : write.tedomum.net/rgx/suggesti

@svmihar Hello and welcome. 😄

Since you are using a CLI client, I am guessing you don't need a new users guide, eh ? 😛

Good to have you here.

hello world, posting from the terminal because it's pretty handy to journal from here!

@globcoco Wonderful!

You are learning so fast, and discovering all the Power Toys, lol. Welcome to Power Users League.
