My old antenna fell down after almost a decade. It performed so well i bought the same brand again and am putting another one back up today. Its quite tall (like 30 or 40 feet or sonething) and requires the whole roof to be covered in radials. This tine im coating the radials with tar to embed them into the roof itself. Quite the project but it will be worth it.
I am making tons of progress on my #OSS . #FOSS APRS project called #Digipex.
I got an igate relay hosted (this will be neccesary to ensure we can get dup packets):
I got a web-app going that will display allt he clients on the map and give some statistics/status info:
I also have the most important part, working code that talks to the radios and routes / rewrites packets. Right now it can send/receive, digipeat, and gate to and from the igate.
The code for digipex is here: https://git.qoto.org/digipex/digipex
And you can see some information about my particular digipex node here:
https://hub.digipex.io/views/overview.php?id=43449
The picture below is of a microcomputer (like a raspberry pi, its a khadas) running digipex and showing the packets it deals with on the miniature screen.
Decided my keyboard needed cleaning so I went ahead and bought some keycaps for it while I was at it.
It cost me 300$ when I bought it since it is a custom made keyboard with all cherry mx green switches (you rarely find all keys in green). I personally love it and even more so with the new key caps.
Stiched together my own 3-point hybrid sling completely from scratch.
Main features are:
* Quick conversion from 3-point to 1-point with magnetic clasp (thr one connecting the red webbing)
* Quick disconnect if you get tangled
* two adjustment points, one for weight, the other for muzzle drop.
* Cool red, black, and white styling ;)
* All metal clasps and connectors
* Combination of thick and thin webbing for comfort.
Testing out some modifications on my 10mm Kimber M1911... Would like everyones thoughts. Attached is the before and after. I added bronze grip screws and a bronze muzzle brake. The muzzle brake is supposed to be functional but im skeptical if it does anything (It wasnt super expensive)... thoughts.
So after a bit of tweaking I finished my AR-15 CQC (Close Quarter Combat). The main issue with the old configuration was the Monstrum 3X had really poor eye-boxing and the color was off.
Changes from the earlier configuration:
* replaced the Monstrum 3x magnifier with a Sig Sauer Juliet3 flip-to-side magnifier
* Added hybrid 3-point sling
* Moved red dot and juliet3 closer to the eye giving it priority over the 45 degree backup irons in terms of placement
* Removed fingershelf from 45 degree fore grip.
