@snder I mean for me I'd say if the policy isnt clear then clarify on the policy. Set up clear rules for what will get an instance silenced. Then apply it to the behavior of gab.

Personally on my server our policy is only to silence servers in extreme situations for example if it is used primarily for spam or if individual users are encourage and allowed to open up multiple accounts to harass people and avoid individual bans without any admin intervention. Stuff like that. We wont silence for users being offensive personally,

But each server should have their own policy and apply it objectively IMO.

@snder Do you have a policy on silencing? I'd argue it should be based on policy not the whims of the masses. But thats just my 2 cents as a non-member. Tyranny of the majority seems to be an ongoing problem with mastodon instances IMO.

Passwords are hashed but that also prevents a website from being able to display a users password back to them, it can only be used to confirm if a submitted password is correct.

So similarly if you treated posts or DM like passwords and hash them then there would be no way to possibly render the message to the user.

The admin of almost ANY system can read your data. It wouldnt be able to display your information to you if the system itself didnt have the ability to decrypt it. Therefore even if it were encrypted the admin would still have the means to decrypt it. So thats simply not a problem that can be solved server-side in this case.

I feel that with the invention of 3D printers that we have 2 and 3 dimensions covered well enough but are severely lacking on 1D options.

I intend to design a 1D printer capable of printing out a string in any combination of colors you want.

@mindnmotion@bsd.network Maybe. Having sensative heating doesnt mean that loud noises would hurt anymore. Thats a common misconception.

Just because a sense has high resolution doesnt imply it has a smaller range.

To look at a similar analogy consider hawks. Their eyesight is considerably more sensative than our. They can detect small variations in light at long distances we never could. Despite this heightened sensitivity there is no reason to think that on bright sunny days the added light would hurt their eyes.

In all liklihood the loud noises dont hurt their ears at all. They are just confused as to where it is coming from and scared psychologically more than anything I'd imagine.

@pschwede Well its not a hypothesis. Its well known and accepted, easily demonstrated. The religious and historic scholars have known about it a long time.

@pschwede Yes earlier in the thread I gave up as an easy well known example Genesis. On the surface it appears to be just a casual story about god creating the earth. However when you read it with awareness of Gematria it is immediately apparent that its actually just a ciphered text with the Sepher Yetzera encoded into it. Which of course teaches a very different lesson than the apparent narrative of the text.

This pattern carries on into the new testament but is lost to many because unlike the scholarly approach the jews took with the old testament sadly most christians dont have the same rigor scholarly religious study. Sad really IMO/
