@LWFlouisa If you find an explanation beyond coincidence let me know.

@pkok I'm not sure, when someone sells you a vial labeled "blood" its usually best to ask as few questions as possible :)

@msmouse Here are the relevant links I ordered from.

The gold tipped pen in the picture (black writing):

The silver tipped pen in the picture (purple writing), comes in a four pack:
amazon.com/gp/product/B079KHY6

The original pen, not pictured, that all of these are copied from (haven't tried it yet, arrives tomorrow):
amazon.com/gp/product/B00C5LI7

@msmouse They are wings, a cheap (but good) chinese brand. I ordered the brand it is a rip-off of but it hasnt arrived yet. But this is one of the few cases where the rip off is as good as the original I suspect.

I loved my new pen so much I bought a 4 pack of a similar model from the same company. I also ordered some sepcialty Inka to try in them all, as well as the more expensive American brand that the Chinese pen was ripping off.

The purple ink I just tried is Iroshizuku ink, it is one of the most popular high end inks. I can see why, it days very fast. The color could be a bit richer though. Looking forward to trying my other inks a bit more cause the other ones are a bit less well known but with a long history. Oxblood will be fun to try.

@LWFlouisa
The story line will be human written, though there may be some generated elements (since i intend to make a huge world that takes a very long time to traverse). The overworld will have some rougelike features but dungeons will be slightly different (per-room environments like a traditional MUD).

@TWilson@mastodon.cloud

@LWFlouisa
Its an archaic term that means "Multi-User Dungeon". Generally it is used to refer to any MMORPG that is entirely text based and (usually) operates through telnet.

@TWilson@mastodon.cloud

@TWilson@mastodon.cloud I was a ROM guy back int he day. Played a bit of Bat MUD lately but couldnt get into most games including MUDs (though batmud was one of the better).

I have very specific tastes in games and never have i found a game that lives up to my very high expectations in terms of gameplay. So despite not being a huge gammer I decided I needed to write my own game so I could make one I'd actually find fun for once, and should be exceedingly unique as well.

@Gaffoonie its a rewrite of one i was originally doing in java. Been tinkering with it the past few weeks. Not playable yet but most of the core features are in place. Code is on github but likely not worth your time just yet.

Woot! after three seperate failing attempts I managed to get Unicode box drawing characters on NCurses to work through telnet using Ruby. All my attempts in the past either rendered with plain ascii or not at all, it was very ugly.

This will ultimately get integrated into the Open-source :opensource: Ruby :ruby: MUD I've been writing called Aethyr (a text-based mmorpg)

@hakui
Main reason I didnt get the converter is because i wanted a demonstrator so i wanted a see through pen. Also my cross is for sacred use (it is engraved with various spirtual symbols). So I dont use it in day-to-day use anyway.

@nerthos

@hakui
The demonstrator I got comes apart completely. Looks really easy to clean, can't speak to if the plastic will stain though.

I actually just bought an additional 4 pack of wings at a decent price, all demonstrators. So I plan to put a different ink in each of them. I also got a slightly more expensive demonstrator from another company (same design) to try out. I figure having multiple pens for multiple inks makes the most sense. This particular model I'm hoping will be a breeze to clean when it does go empty though.

@nerthos

@hakui
Not my first, though it is my first piston style fountain. I've had one fountain pen from cross and used disposable fountain pens a lot. Though I just started getting into picking my own loose ink and using hte piston style to fill the pen. I bought a few specialty inks to try it out.

@InvaderXan
Apparently "history" directly contradicted by wikipedia. But ok whatever.

@ecsaln@anarchism.space @bob

@InvaderXan
If you read the whole thing it is clearly saying that early forms of capitalism later evolved to merchant capitalism, which was in the middle ages.

Did you read the whole thing?

The reason the into specifies "full-fledged" is only once there is a global network to facilitate it at a large scale, which is valid wording. We are not however just talking about "full-fledged" capitalism, we are talking about all capitalism. Obviously as societies advanced the way capitalism manifested has changed. But it was always capitalism as long as there are free market trades.

@ecsaln@anarchism.space @bob

@InvaderXan
As it makes clear in the article that is just when the term capitalism began being used to describe already established economic systems. Capitalism existed long before anyone gave it a name.

In fact I the very link you used as a source backs up exactly what I am saying with this quote "This sees capitalism originating in trade. Since evidence for trade is found even in palaeolithic culture, it can be seen as natural to human societies."

TL;DR even wikipedia says capitalism goes back to the cave men.

@ecsaln@anarchism.space @bob

@ecsaln@anarchism.space
Nothing in this post at any point talked about if capitalism was good or bad, so if people are complaining about it isnt relevant to the conversation. We are talking about how long it has existed.
@bob

@nerthos
Yup, in fact unless something is specifically in place to prevent capitalism it is the default mode any society tends to operate on.
@bob

@nerthos
Very true, even barter systems are still technically capitalism
