"Monopoly for Millennials: "Forget real estate. You can’t afford it anyway."

OK Boomer. Fuck you Hasbro.

(Yup, that's a real Monopoly version you can buy)"

"Soaking in baths full of fruit in Japan"

"In Japan, people traditionally soak in hot baths with the yuzu citrus fruit to welcome the winter solstice and protect their bodies from the common cold. During last year’s solstice celebration, children from a local preschool shared a dip in a traditional yuzu tub in the city of Toyooka as dozens of the yellow yuzu fruits surrounded them on the surface, according to Japan’s daily newspaper Asahi Shimbun."

For Chrismas I wanted to share this very relevant quote. Especially at a time when the USA is ethically defunct due to left and right extremism and attacks this message is of particular relevance.

This quote is from the end of Lincoln's Getty's Burg Address:

In your hands, my dissatisfied fellow-countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war. The Government will not assail you. You can have no conflict without being yourselves the aggressors. You have no oath registered in heaven to destroy the Government, while I shall have the most solemn one to "preserve, protect, and defend it."
I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.

@Iambharani This cant be... where would the purple come from? Should form Sodium Hydroxide and hydrogen gas.. Looks more like iodine metal and water to me.

it looks for all nodes that have a property called "fingerprint" with a value called "DEADF00D" that does not have a property called "dirty".. If there are no nodes that match that criteria then it takes all nodes and edges with a property of "dirty" and a value of "1" and drops the dirty property from it.

I had to implement something akin to optimistic locking which means when i add a bunch of nodes and edges to the graph at first they get added one at a time with a property set called "dirty" and a value that is some sort of UUID for all the nodes/edges in the transaction.

Then I write a step that validates it and either drops the dirty property if the transaction is successful or if the transaction fails then all nodes/edges that are dirty are dropped entierly and the transaction can be reattempted.

So Gremlin Python ( Tinkerpop 3 ) does not have transaction support. So only way to get transaction like behavior is to make sure you do everything in a single database traversal.

Because I am writing an ORM / OGM model as my base that means I needed to implement something that looks like optimistic locking all my own (only works on immutable write-only graphs). Its a huge pain in the ass.

Anyway after half a day I finally figured out this is the traversal I need to resolve my optimistic lock when creating a single new node in the DB:

session.g.E().has('dirty',1).aggregate('x').fold().V().has('dirty',1).aggregate('x').choose(__.V().hasLabel('account').has("fingerprint", "DEADF00D").hasNot('dirty').count().is_(0), __.select('x').unfold().properties('dirty').drop()).iterate()

So, here's the plan.

Packet radio using TNC-Pi, with dialup as backup / access for people who can't reach over rf (it's only a 10w radio)

Probably won't be a classic bbs, but possibly something you can telnet into and access mastodon.radio via command line, maybe some basic "email", possibly access specific sites over gopher?

It won't forward anything to the Internet, but I'm thinking it could proxy specific stuff.

#packetRadio #amateurRadio #dialup #raspberrypi

@freemo yes the site can open but didn't see the recommended instance it said [no results...for now ] @Gargron

Is joinmastodon.org down or something. I go to the page and the listings are blank... Anyone kno whats up?

@freemo Didn't the Senate Majority Leader say that he will not be impartial? It seems kind of reasonable not to let someone who claims this explicitly pass judgement. Although using legal tricks to do that is disappointing, I don't see how else they could have avoided that.

Eh, no idea, I'm very disappointed by more and more politicians all over the world ignoring the spirit and even sometimes rule of law. I feel like one "side" (broadly speaking, since I'm talking abut many parts of the world) is doing this much more, but there are obvious reasons why I might be biased.

Just a reminder, the house vote on impeachment wasnt even supported by all democrats. 2 democrats voted against it and all republicans voted against it. They couldnt even get support from democrats and they knew damn well they couldnt get support for 2/3 of the senate.

I hate trump and want him out of office as much as anyone, but the impeachment caused me to loose all respect for democrats.

It looks more like a desperate attempt to manipulate the 2020 election and win, rather than any real attempt at impeachment. Sad thing is they probably hurt their cause more than helped. I know I have lost what little respect for the democrats I had despite my hatred of trump.

I have no clue who I will vote for int he 2020 elections. I literally cant find a single party or candidate who gives me any reason to vote for them.. Its kind of depressing

"This is a land -- uncharted waters, constitutionally," Graham told reporters. "I just know this, that this matters to the future of the country. We cannot have a system where the House impeaches the president, tells the Senate how to conduct the trial, holds the articles of impeachment over the president's head at a time of their choosing to unleash them." -- Lindsey Graham

Any respect the democrats had during this impeachment trial went out the fucking window the second they decided to withhold the articles of impeachment from the Senate.

It is exactly this sort of manipulation of the system that got Trump elected int eh first place, people wanting him to "clear the swamp" and while I dont think Trump is delivering on that promise, the promise alone got him elected.

Man the democrats dont know WTF they are doing anymore, no wonder Trump got elected.
