NAS = NAS

No Agenda Social (NAS)
No Authority Social (NAS)

(same acronym, 2 different things merging somewhat now due to some politics I'm looking into - any help on that?)

#Podcast tips - Audio filesizes too much in bitrate! = diskspace bloat !!

tips - Audio filesizes bloated (could be much smaller)

People still bloat audio ... 200% 300%... for voice?.. I know it's a few tens of megabytes but 10 podcasts and it's x10 problem = 100's mbs waste... or 100 files = 1gb or just more in size is unnecessary...

Bad Example (Good-looking podcast with RSS feed + Ogg files):

freetalk.show/feed/ogg/
@abhas

could you have a look?

Ep1 = 19mins (56mb) Ogg
Ep8 = 23mins (71.6mb) Ogg

Obviously clever enough to use Ogg and understand it but At over double CD quality (rough estimate), Terrible if I'm wrong forgive me... 64Kb/s is guarenteed safe in ogg or mp3 (half CD quality) but off is tecnically better fore voice so could even lower at 40Kbps (less than 500Kb per minute)

There is little intro music yes) but still half size or even quarter is fine for voice and tiny in size.
(also less saving time for users to download and you to uploads and download,less stress on networks and disposable data which podcasts are usually).

Check it out and I'll have a word to see if they can resize each by the time you play it...

freetalk.show/feed/ogg

People are more likely to notice this when it comes to sex work. But we don't tend to notice that we sell ourselves into part-time slavery just as much when we flip burgers or driver an Uber. We don't notice that these jobs can be just as exploitive as sex work, or even more so.

Self-ownership is not enough. We need to go further and make a radical claim; that we are not for sale *or* for rent. That we are not property of any kind, and neither is data about us.

"We need to own our own data."

Kind of, but no. Because that still implicitly accepts the framing of personal data as property. It's a digital extension of the propertarian notion that civil liberties are grounded in each person's ownership of their own body and mind.

Rather than abolish slavery, this just makes us all self-owning slaves.

I just would like to point out that
none of the accounts I was forced to create for job applications so far had any options for multi-factor authentication or for deleting the account.

And all of the accounts I was forced
to create for job applications so far required to enter very sensitive information that was completely unnecessary to require.

Don’t. Do. This.
Please. Stop.
