@CrystalPixie and I are immigrating to Germany and are looking for somewhere to stay, ideally in the vicinity of the Düsseldorf metro area, until we can secure a rental.

We're currently searching for a rental for the start of March, but we'll be there in the next week or so and would be willing to pay for somewhere to crash until we can find a more permanent place. Maybe asking for <= 2 weeks to start and going from there? (Please PM for dates, we'd rather not publish specifics until out of the US.)

About us: we're both trans; I'm 27 (it/she) and Lain is 26 (fae/it). We're both actively studying German, but will likely still rely on English for a lot of things. Only bringing our two backpacks and a few suitcases. If you're able to have us, let's get to know each other!

If you only need 1:1 #Videocalling, consider #WebCall as a secure alternative.

I'm looking for work as a Senior Software Engineer. Network programmer since 1990, with a Web focus. I've implemented many protocols and designed some too.  Worked on early RFCs; wrote seminal tutorials on Web tech; wrote the first anti-censorship proxy, CGIProxy, in 1996. I have a ton of experience in many different business contexts, including running a small USG-funded NGO from 2011-2019. My main languages are Go, JavaScript (Node.JS/client-side), Perl, Python, and Rust, but I learn quickly and can pick up other tech as needed. Good at teaching. Record of solving hard problems creatively. Can manage if needed, but I'd rather be doing technical work.

Open to permanent or contract, full or part time. Need to work from home. Ideally I'd work in public interest technology (PIT), but can do corporate work too. Available immediately.

I want/need more activity on Mastodon and we all need more accounts here. While related they're not the same thing. More than the sum of the parts. A few of us posting a lot doesn't make up for too many barely posting anything. The latter may consist of many biding their time, possibly hoping for more people like them to follow and boost. Unfortunately, there may be too many waiting for others to make the first move.

In the past at times i have been harsh about your pushiness on certain requests. But i have recently realized it was most likely you just being passionate about your view of a better world and perhaps getting frustrated about people not getting on board and working with you to bring it to fruition. That is an understandable reaction and in the end your goals are and were worthy of discussion and merit. So just wanted to say that.

That said I suspect if you took that passion and perhaps tweaked how you approach people a bit, you could get much better results. Some of it is just working with peoples short comings and not anything wrong you did yourself. For example long messages will automatically exclude 95% of your audience and cause most of your views, however valid, to go unread. Cant fault you for putting time into expressing yourself fully but regardless of how people **should** respond we live in a world where should isn't is. If you adjusted your message to be more easily digestible along with a few tweaks to how you otherwise interact with people I think it could go a long way at getting you a better response and backing to your goals.
