My New Year's message in a few words: Sharing joy is as important as finding it. In addition to discovering your own joy, it is essential to share it with others by being inclusive, welcoming, and encouraging.
If you can believe people are useful without them actually being useful to you directly... this makes for some benefits:
█ better feelings towards others - less conditional
█ doesn't assume you need to know right away - gives time
█ doesn't box people into government regulated terms of 'jobs'
█ allows communication more open or present or free flowing, not just based on what they can do for you in business sense or "what do you" as the forefront
█ Even might avoid comparison or conflict at first
I accept knowing is good or not a bad thing, but the order of doing things can be more healthy or human as it's limiting in it's own way.
█ Even let's them share in their own time (unless both of you say little in which case ask if they don't mind !)

█ Getting it to "how it was before" is a mind thing which still can be enjoyed in less perfect state (or less perfect in your mind but still better than 0)

└Example 1, software dies but then gets forked somewhere else. You might see it as dead but it's growing somewhere if you look deeper (yes this is effort but can continue just as before once you find new website etc).

Okay, listen up:
Mozilla is two different entities. The Mozilla Corporation and the Mozilla Foundation. The second one? That's the social good one you really want focused on important things.
The Mozilla Foundation, like all non-profits, publishes their Form 990 annually to disclose compensation. Here it is.
You'll see that the top earner there, Mitchell Baker, who is very handsomely rewarded, is actually paid by the Mozilla Corporation, not the Foundation. Put another way, the non-profit is not blowing its funding on a CEO.
And the corp, by the way, is what generates revenue that largely funds Firefox.
The annual report of the Foundation shows a pretty healthy financial situation, and increased investment in public good projects year-over-year.
I don't like everything they do either (e.g. that risible website generator), but I don't actually think they are suffering from a lack of focus. They're suffering from a mature market.

An "open firmware" project, where people produce and share FOSS firmware for common household devices, replacing the manufacturer's firmware with a decrapified version.
A smart TV? Reflash it with FOSS firmware, which removes tracking, calls to the manufacturer's servers, and any Internet-connected services that you don't want?
A printer? It's now yours. No ink subscription, or need for an app to print remotely.
