I've been waiting for this. The extreme cold is 10 times worse because of climate change. They are using the 'dancing jet stream' as the villian. I totally believe that (so the Dr. doesn't get blocked).
If we want to go into physics, you can look up on WikiP that the jet stream is passive to hot and cold zones. It's like a shadow, and cannot move air particles. It is just a continuous roll, like a thunderstorm, except there is a slight vector westward on the descending air. This can be 'sailed' by jet planes. Please don't think about physics, it keeps you up at night.

@Benji @JonKramer Yes, that is the natural humidity if you live in a wind tunnel. At the minimum have a steamer on at night, or you are a covid magnet. We, in Canada, usually have sealed windows. In fact, the new super houses need an energy air exchanger to stop the windows from raining.

Toronto as the snow starts. I like looking at this stage because I keep saying "Yeah, I don't have to shovel yet!"

I think we should make a list of qualifications here. My relative had a work term with a desk right beside him in early Tesla days. All I can say is 'wooo boy" :) For my suggestion, I keep thinking about Trump's press secretaries.

Western US in a cold-lock, UK has another very persistent cyclone. A cold lock is what happens with Greenland all the time. The cold air is so dense and stationary that the ocean plumes of heat can't penetrate. Never saw it with NA, but you can see all the plumes are bouncing off the coast. Revel in the new experience!

All hopes are on the impossible physics of the ocean currents turning on a dime. When that map starts turning white it's -60C, or something in F.

- 50 below goes to Texas, again. This is a repeat of the 'Big Freeze'. We should be hearing all the stories soon. It was curling to the East Coast. This is accredited to 'Polar Vortex Fairies', even though the PV exists only in near-vacuum. High velocity, very little energy.

I drove into an LTE black hole that is supposed to be modern. Sucks to have an accident. But I did find out my dashcam was on the blink. You have to check them once a month.

It's the writer solstice. Bring on the longer and sunnier stories!

Planes, trains, and automobiles. Great movie. My son is right now on a flight from Sanfran. His plane suddenly zoomed from 30 min early (when they thought they had the wind behind them) to 30 min late (probably had to avoid the turbulence). Never seen that.

The instructions don't look too bad for Linux people, but the $4-8 per month is too much for a retired guy. Maybe IPvanish will provide this one day for $1 per month, but I'll have to give up one sip of Scotch per month. I will miss the good Doctor, but he's hiding lately. Maybe he's somewhat bipolar like I am. :)

Massy cleaning hack - Let's take over that business from those other guys.

Buy the 75% vinegar bottle from ammie. Poke two tiny holes in the foil because you'll only need dribbles. For laundry stain removal mix in a tiny travel bottle with the snap open lid, a strong solution (1 to 4). Dribble this on the stains and wash as normal. For cleaning the bathroom, dribble a little in the sink with water. Do not sniff that dang stuff!

In a shock to all us old people, she has been declared 'over the hill' and will soon star in Hallmark movies.

Since he seems to be doing something serious these days, I'd ask for suggestions. I'm thinking he would look good as Attila the Hun, or Vlad the youknow.
