@Vivaldi Amazing, thank you! Indeed, I'm using Vivaldi on Android and the part about having to tap on the text after long pressing the image wasn't obvious. Thank you! 🚀 🚀 keep rocking!
@Vivaldi how do I view "ALT" text on vivaldi mobile? Visit https://social.vivaldi.net and long pressing on any image with ALT text only shows a snippet of the text
@freemo Freedom is all about choice, granted. But if by exercising that freedom, you were to put others in real danger (where their fears may be quite justified), you just turn out to be a jerk in using your freedom.
@freemo GB Shaw was often quoted as saying "Your freedom ends where my nose begins" -- perhaps he had a really long nose or he could sniff fear. Dunno.
Happy to share that I have successfully completed the Google Summer of Code 2023 with @libreoffice. I would like to thank Andreas Heinisch (@DrRobotto) and Heiko Tietze for their unwavering support and mentorship throughout the #GSoC '23 program.

@bayram @libreoffice @DrRobotto Great work, congratulations!
@dbread I don't know, but have you looked at FluffyChat? Source code is hosted on Github and is available from F-Droid too. See here: https://github.com/krille-chan/fluffychat and other client alternatives here: https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/
@freemo I may have missed it, but since I now see an option to block an entire domain, is this blocking action instance-wide or just for my timeline? I also vaguely remember some back/forth discussion on instance-wide block-list for certain spam/offensive Mastodon instances - so this is a bit confusing to me, personally.
@Romaq @freemo @herid That is perfectly fine. It's up to the people actually running the project to see about how they want to run them.
There are quite a few opensource projects run in a similar manner (BDFLs/what not): SQLite, ENSIME, Vivaldi. Vivaldi has a different model where they make the sources available, but no open trail/audit of daily development activity. ENSIME is similar with an invite-only model of development. That is, people who can actively contribute are invited to participate on their development repo.
@QasimRashid For the record, I'm not in the USA. So I don't know how it works there. And, my points were only about taxes on income.
From my experience living in a couple countries, you NEED a valid national identity along with a valid work permit (of course) to be able to pay taxes.
@QasimRashid Wait, I'm a little confused. How can undocumented migrants pay taxes? If they are undocumented migrants, it surely means that they don't have valid papers to work/live in the country, right? Are you saying they pay taxes through third parties? How are they attributed without any valid ID to attach (SSN/NI/any other national identity)?
@obi It's either Merry X'mas or Merry Christmas for me
@dch I'm a little annoyed at how we went from FIFA events like they were pre-COVID and back to COVID hitting the news again.
Masks up, everyone!
@freemo Ah. Yeah, I agree - It doesn't make sense to call it a Mastodon-only feature or even a new one. Thanks, merry X'mas!
And, thanks for all the work you put into having qoto running!
@freemo Sorry, out of the loop here. What's QT feature? QuickTime? 😅
#QOTO is now back up and migrated to bigger servers. There shouldnt be any more issues moving forward.
Wow, I didn't realize #LibreOffice is 10 years old today: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2020/09/27/libreoffice-10th-anniversary/
@libreoffice keep rocking! 🙂
@freemo So you move left: holler@jeffreyfreem.an - I guess you're still eligible for this one since you live in .nl and .an remains closer at Netherlands Antilles 😆
@freemo Heh, if you want to go for the funny ones: holler@jeffreyfree.man is an option? I don't really see why ego@ email id is an option there... Alternatively, you can look at unicode emojis in your email id since apparently, that's a thing these days :D
