@khird I must point out that to me the phrase "least famous" implies famous and excludes forgettable, despite my tendency as a wannabe mathematician to extend the meaning of abstract quantities to encompass as wide a range of values as I can justify.
@digital_carver

@sacha @freemo pfft, artists... takes nothing to get them high. An image is a sound, music is animation, the difference is in dimensions. Despite our claims to comprehend so many we have yet to perceive the third.

phone crashed, lost all subway tooter columns, never felt more free

@verita84 @bagofshit there is a lot to discuss in laundry. It is an industry. I washed my soft and fluffy blanky the other day, and it became a less soft and less fluffy blanket. This is not acceptable. I now seek professional help at my convenience.
@lezpaulguitars @grimauld @LaylaAlexandrovna

std::visit should have been called transform and should have worked with tuples

std::reduce as it is now should have just been an std::accumulate overload (barring the default init, which is evil, and should be instead inferred from the operator when possible, through some standard interface)

a function called reduce should support partial reductions

@duponin @georgia @LovelessLiddell I don't get why everyone's is talking about temperature units for measuring weather. Who actually needs to measure weather in day to day life? Do people make complex calculations on what to wear? I suspect a Fahrenheit conspiracy!

Celsius is good for a lab, and guess what's a lab? The kitchen! Cooking requires a lot of precision and calculation, across different measurement units. Everyone needs this to a degree >.>
Only meteorologists need good numbers for weather.

@VD15 were you bad at algebra though? I feel like being comfortable with it is pretty much prerequisite for most types of programing. I would suggest khanacademy for algebra. It's fun, and wouldn't hurt anyway.
@alcade @boob

@Prodigal
I had no specific assumptions, once again, I'm going off of this thread alone. Read again. Take your time. I'm not in a hurry. Unless you mean I'm too dumb to ever understand the higher science that your preach, in which case, I accept your concession.

@orekix @allison @georgia

@Prodigal I literally told you I don't care who you are, or are classified as, or what you think of whom or what you believe. I'm only pointing out your BS in this thread specifically. Try reading again maybe. If you can't see through the banter it is you who are overly fixated on yourself, not me.
@orekix @allison @georgia

@georgia

That makes sense. The original assertion sounded more like "it can not be natural". Nature as a god (aka the source of truth) is a spook, I would say. Still vehemently suspecting cirno...

@orekix @allison @Prodigal @cirno

@georgia @cirno Do I smell Gaia here too?! You will not escape my wrath, just because you are not creeps! Concede now, that this "nature" you speak of is nothing but your belief, and dare not speak of biology! ... re

@orekix @allison @Prodigal

@Prodigal

It was your choice and it was a bad choice. You just cited random passages from your gospel of biology, and proved nothing. Meanwhile what you were trying to prove is common sense.

- got spooked?
- no I just thought the anti-godders are out to cancel me again! <.<
so you did get spooked? I was actually expecting you to come at me with atheism, or some proper fedi stuff like pyromancy. Somewhat dissappointing.

- we need vitamin D
Now, look, I get it you don't get out much, but that doesn't mean cave people don't. They do. They might not have a language, but they have a life.

- we love frutieees
yea sure, you'd prefer an apple to a human corpse, but if the corpse happened to be more affordable, you'd go for the corpse, right?

"Because it is the main and most popular choice, and only practical one for the procreation of humans."
Not a biological argument regarding an individual. I have to reiterate and urge you to think this time. If your argument is scientific, than I'm asking you by the same argument, how did you know you wanted to be an engineer and not a caveman? Should you not have tried to be caveman for a couple of years before making such an important decision?

- hit me wit da science.
I don't need biology to tell you what is not biology. What are you even asking? See above on why your argument has nothing to do with biology as science.

- you did not study biology as science, you studied it as mythos.
- but I graduateeed ToT
When arguments run out, titles are thrown around. And what glorious titles: "I failed at being an engineer, so I went into snake oil business instead".

"We are not talking about any sort of objective results.
>Maybe you are not, but I am."
The objective result of another person being satisfied? Now I must urge you to study language?

">Right handedness is not a default, it is a majority default"
It's not a default it's just a default? How about we translate this:
Right handedness is not the word of god, it's just biological default.

"-I counter and say: Georgia, you never even friggin used your left hand before!!!"
Assuming you meant to write "right" here, I'm afraid this is thoroughly fucked up my firend.

No offence to Georgia, but I don't care what her orientation is. I'm in this thread cause you decided to pretend to be a scientist and that triggered me. Now I'm also discovering that you are a total creep.

@orekix @allison @georgia

@Prodigal

You don't even need biology to show that heterosexuality is default, so your entire wall of text here is rather pointless.

My main point you are not even trying to address. Too spooked that I called you godly? By your own logic I can claim that we are also designed to eat our corpses and live in caves. How is heterosexuality any different? However it is, it has nothing to do with the science that is biology.

Your continued rhetoric of evidence of "natural design" shows that you have never studied the science, you only studied the mythos. I don't know what your beliefs are, or what you have previously described them as, I'm going off of this thread alone.

As to your analogy, you are not telling a hopper to run. We are not talking about any sort of objective results. Georgia never claimed she can get someone pregnant. We are talking about subjective experiences. You are suggesting a lefty to try using only their right hand for a couple of years and see if they are still a lefty.

@orekix @allison @georgia

@georgia What we so casually call sexes or their inclinations, to a biologist is a great mystery, a discovery of even a minor aspect of which, they would happily dedicate their entire life to (what the hell is wrong with my english -_-). The arguments of the majority and the usual is in the realm of basic statistics and requires no actual study of biology. I get triggered when people pretend to science. He basically requires empirical evidence, but his approach is to ignore all reason in the name of "science". I genuinely think he would have been more clear if he said god, I could at least respect the honesty in that.
@orekix @allison @Prodigal

@Prodigal should everyone also give cannibalism a try? Just to make sure, you know? Or abandon language and go live in cave to absolutely make sure that you indeed want to be, say, an engineer and not just missing out on wonderful natural life of a hunter gatherer?

I urge you, next time you mean to say god, to not say biology. Also, if you will, do actually study biology, employing the scientific method and not mythology.

@orekix @allison @georgia

namark boosted

@Elfie Finally words! I can't fuck off at this point, but after the following clarification, gladly.

I don't care about your grammar, but It was the only thing you wrote, and I didn't even know you didn't misspell it intentionally. I was grasping at straws trying to urge you to express yourself, but I understand it can be difficult.
