@olamundo yeah, no hyphen feels wrong to me as well, but apparently that's english, like email i guess...
@olamundo Esports, you know? Large communities of people organizing to compete in a videogame. There are professional players, teams and even retired players working as coaches, along with plenty of fans to fund it all, just like in conventional sports, except all of them on a whim of the videogame publisher who can just decide one day that they don't get to play the game they dedicated their lives to anymore.
Why is there a default setting for markdown berried in preferences instead of just "keep what I chose until I change it again" >:(
I would blame @freemo but he probably just copied it from somewhere...
@olamundo whaaa, who put all those > in my post? I only put it on the first line, stupid markdown nonsense...
@olamundo It's more profitable for a monopoly, that can endlessly exploit the userbase, without providing any real value. They can cut maintenance and support costs by locking things down, and that's all that matters, cut costs as much as possible cause it will "sell" no matter what. Without competition no objective standard of quality can form.
> You don’t see heavy machinery being adapted so any braindead person can fool around carelessly.
If you count tractors as heavy, you do see it. Electronics industries are taking clues from software industries on exactly how much they can get away with.
> Sports don’t change their rules so people who don’t want to put in the effort can play.
Esports do that, intentionally lowering the barrier to entry to make the game more popular. The rules are proprietary software so nobody even knows what they are, people perceive it as a natural phenomenon and nobody questions it... until the publisher decides to shut down the game servers and it suddenly becomes obvious for them that have been exploited
@swiley yes, we already established that it's beneath your dignity to punch a nurse, you may go read that part again if you missed it... it's about where all of your barely-arguments completely fall apart and you just resort repeated assertions for that point on...
@swiley oh no, am I too dumb to comprehend the height of genius of the nurse puncher? of course, how dare I assume to be worthy of this godly revelation?
@swiley oh no, I understand your sheltered pussy-ass rebel-larper delusions perfectly, and it's hilarious.
@swiley ah right, you explain the behavior of the unwashed masses, these armies of apes that you can't even relate to... you yourself are above it all of course... "and I'm not justifying it... I'm just explaining... these poor animals had no choice... you see having no choice is not a justification, it's an explanation, please, you misunderstand me..."
@swiley oh which part?
@swiley indeed, nurses - the face of violence... the neverending nightmares of the nurse enforcer breaking into his home and repeatedly and violently piercing his buttcheekcs with the long needle of governmental opression had driven swiley to the edge... he must find a nurse, he must punch a nurse, there is no other way...
@swiley Yes! I'm against government, and therefore attack its fundamental backbone and the source of its power, the nurses! I'm not at all a complete idiot larping a rebellion, cause I have no other purpose in life.
@swiley omg look at all those gestapo nurse enforces that hunt down and force inject people with death vaccine!
@Acer it's a common practice to invest in a permissively licensed project and market an always-an-inch-ahead proprietary fork. It's called "open source" and a last resort for proprietary software to compete with copyleft.

mysterious 40K bytecode blob >.>
https://github.com/OpenBW/openbw/blob/master/bwgame.h#L22059
some sort of a mix of animation data and unit behavior that depends on it, don't think the game would be playable without it... very binary, such disappoint -_-
@academicalnerd yes, it has got to work to be redundant. You have to do the work and some more, that's pretty much what it means.
I'm afraid I'll have to maintain that you are not good words...
